Re:Envisioning Web3 | Who Is Behind the PFP?

Host: Lyss (@Lysss302) with co-hosts Sho (@AgogoKaren) and Jed (@jed_131) · Sat, Aug 8 2026 · 2:20:43 · 16 detected speakers

TL;DR

Highlights

[8:26] The self-awareness cold open. Lyss set the tone with a Gary V montage on self-awareness — "accepting your shortcomings and accentuating your strengths" — and later a Simon Sinek clip about blind spots. She followed with her own reflection at [14:31] that someone close had told her she gives strangers more grace than the people around her, and she'd taken it to heart.

[11:10] Sho commits the co-host crime of the day. While swapping a speaker in, Sho accidentally booted Jed clean out of the room — "oh shit, oh shit, oh shit… he's gonna kill me." It became the running bit of the Space, with Woof later insisting she must have been "a Viking… chop chop chopping with her axe."

[20:23] Owning the L on the new meta. Sho admitted she hasn't buckled down to learn what she should, and takes full responsibility — "it is totally my fault." Lyss backed the sentiment: if you missed Stonk Brokers or mancers, you missed it, reposition for the next wave instead of blaming others or begging on the timeline.

[20:53] Slick's testimony. Back from a two-week fair run, SLICK RIC delivered a heartfelt riff on winning with friends, then revealed he'd been about 30 cents from liquidation on a leveraged long and clawed his way back to green. His advice: do the homework (throw the whitepaper in Grok if you must), don't FOMO into what you missed.

[37:54] Mechsicko, the man behind the regens. Coaxed by Jed to go past "I'm a guy who draws pixels," Mechsicko traced it back — born in Chicago, dropped with family in Mexico as a baby, raised in Seaside CA, hooked on MF DOOM and Three 6 Mafia, and pulled into music production by (of all things) discovering Soulja Boy made "Crank That" in FruityLoops.

[47:44] Why the ReQueens exist. Mechsicko explained he'd finished the whole collection before realizing it was all dudes — so he built the female regens deliberately, borrowing traits from his girlfriend (red hair, pink hoodies) and making them rare on purpose so people wouldn't dump them: "she is rare, just like women are." Both Lyss and Jazzy praised it as some of the best female representation in a PFP outside Azuki.

[1:04:05] Sho's Quirkies tattoo. After five years in spaces never wanting a project inked on her, Sho got a Quirkies piece — "people say you'll have that the rest of your life. Well, I'm 63, so like, go for it." That kicked off an extended, affectionate roast: Papii deadpanning about the "budgets" passed this quarter (Sho's tattoo, a DeStefano's merch drop, and "Lyss getting a quirky tattoo on her forehead"), plus jokes about a Quirkies "life alert / quirk alert" panic button.

[1:16:00] The founder's view on the tokenized meta. SLICK RIC asked Papii how a founder should think about the Robinhood/Stonk Brokers wave. Papii's answer became the intellectual core of the Space: innovation is good, but a brand that knows itself shouldn't panic or pivot; he personally passed on offers (even from Simple Farmer and Michael Hirsch's mancers) to avoid the temptation to sell his community's floor, and flagged real U.S. securities/regulatory concerns. His closing line landed hard: your holders reveal the truth with their actions.

[1:28:15] What ERC-6551 actually is. Jed and Maha broke down the tech for the room — an NFT that owns its own wallet and can carry tokens, RWAs, even Pokémon cards, and travel with the asset when sold. Jed reframed the whole moment as an evolution toward giving holders a reason to hold, while Maha urged people to treat critical questions as open dialogue, not FUD.

[1:48:51] Setting the record straight. Sho called out chatter in other group chats claiming Papii was "fighting" Stonk Brokers — "he was just telling his concerns, but he was not fighting it." Lyss doubled down at [2:01:33]: if you disagree, come to the stage with your chest, don't clip nothing and whisper in a group chat — "quite frankly I think you're corny."

[2:16:04] Slick closes it out. "The goal at the end of the day is become 1% better than you were yesterday. You do that for a hundred days, you're 100% better." Jazzy and Sho followed with their own send-offs about finding your home and being happy for others without pulling anyone down.
