LT3 #86 — Power Of Mind

TL;DR

Highlights

[2:16][4:14] Music warm-up and a knowing joke. Super opened over a long run of tracks; when Sho ribbed that the music might be scaring people off ("Joking, kinda sort of"), he leaned into the bit — "all good jokes contain a little bit of truth" — a line that came back around later.

[13:26] The 2% myth, fact-checked live. Super floated that we only use 2% of our brains; Sho went straight to Google and returned with the correction — it's 2% of body weight, and we use most of the brain daily. Super's deadpan "So I'm cooked, I'm really cooked" made the fumble land softly, and Sho christened it a moment worth a text next time.

[19:11] Using the physical to fix the mental. Super's most concrete tool: when a down day hits, change your scenery and actually absorb the new environment — feel the air, hear the birds — rather than just relocating. He admitted he doesn't have a reliable way to turn a bad mood around in the moment beyond that and sleeping it off.

[21:32] Sho on the "static." Sho's answer to the down days: everyone carries background static and personal triggers, so surround yourself with people who won't just be yes-people but will show you another angle — and be careful, because isolating can turn the volume up, not down.

[34:08] Marc's intentional unplug. Marc described letting his phone die on a solar-powered island and going all-in on vacation with his kids, worrying family enough that his voicemail picking up became a minor event. He framed it as the first truly deliberate disconnect since entering the space, and was glad he did it.

[38:23] The phone-battery / gas-tank kinship. Sho declared a low phone battery as unforgivable as a quarter-tank of gas; Marc, who fills up before trips so he never has to elsewhere, found his spiritual twin. Super cheerfully outed himself as the guy who always lets his phone die — met with a flat "Yeah, we know."

[42:02][49:57] ChAmBoTM's turn. The street artist's first-ever appearance in the room became the heart of the Space: the mind will make you idle or make you drive; artists are "called" to make people feel something without words; and success lives in the process, "whether or not it sold or anybody liked it." He praised the room's "little grandma" as a badass and made the case for keeping an open mind — sit at every lunch table.

[51:08] Little old ladies vs. grumpy old men. As Sho left for her tattoo, Marc capped the running affection for the room's elders with a genuine question — why do we get sweet little old ladies but grumpy old men? — the kind of aside that closed the segment on a laugh.

[57:01] "Lucid dream." Cody offered his summed-up read of the piece: a lucid dream, the conscious mind smiling while the subconscious builds the scene. It nudged Super toward a real creative question — how do you portray a dream in art without just taking a picture of one?
