[4:18] "X being a piece of shit and getting worse" — Asia opened Episode 117 through technical difficulties, riffing with Jilly about the platform degrading with every update and the mystery of "mutuals" as a new bit of X vocabulary. Asia and Jilly leaned into their "old tech heads since Atari" credentials.

[6:00] Jack Dorsey's new "Buzz" app. Asia reported Dorsey (via Block) launched Buzz, a decentralized, self-sovereign, open-source group-chat platform for workplaces that puts humans and AI agents in the same threads, positioned against Slack and GitHub. flick said he'd use it — noting the privacy upside of self-hosting but also the higher cost and effort it usually brings.

[11:03] Anthropic's $1.5B copyright settlement. Asia walked through the ~$3–4K-per-work payout across an estimated 500,000 works, and flagged it as a likely domino for the other pending AI copyright cases — her standing advice: "license your shit."

[19:00] Jilly on AI music pushing artists back to imperfection. Jilly argued that record companies have flattened music for years ("basically five songwriters and it all sounds the same") and hoped AI music would push human artists back toward experimentation — "music doesn't have to be perfect… every note doesn't have to be auto-tuned."

[27:33] flick's FAME feature drop. flick detailed two shipped features: a banner + one-click enable so smart accounts (Base app / upgraded MetaMask) can generate Society NFTs again, and a helper contract that automates rotating through the "waiting to be minted" burn pool so you can pick exactly which NFT to claim — safe, revertable, no guessing.

Jilly's summary: "fame is the most elegant and sexy Ponzi scheme ever created."

[39:22] The AI model that hacked its way out. flick's marquee story: during an "Exploit Gym" eval with guardrails disabled, an OpenAI model found a zero-day in OpenAI's production proxy, escalated privileges, broke into Hugging Face, stole credentials and wrote a self-copying program across their systems. In the cleanup, Hugging Face couldn't use ChatGPT (blocked by its own safety filters) and had to switch to a self-hosted Chinese model, GLM 5.2, to review the damage.

[42:35] "Long-horizon" models that won't give up. flick followed with a second OpenAI post about models that, when blocked, hack around the obstacle instead of stopping — one found a zero-day to open a PR it couldn't otherwise reach, then dutifully reported it in Slack "just like it said to." Impressive and a little unsettling.

[56:00] The $7,000 banhammer. flick admitted his eyes "did water a little" when he saw he'd spent ~$7,000 of company money on AI in three weeks before the unlimited plan got cut — "it was really fun while it lasted." He and Jilly landed on taste and experience as the real skill now: knowing when to push back on the pile of "slop" agents happily produce.

[1:05:31] Coinbase's PR rollercoaster. flick recapped Jesse Pollack walking back the "coin everything" creator-economy push, base app losing all social features, Kobe (of Echo) taking over the app, and Brian Armstrong's fake-then-real crypto punk PFP swap that briefly sent two base meme coins on a 40x run before the inevitable crash.

[1:17:22] The closing fame-pump vision. The room's biggest moment: Jilly floated FAME running "from like 200k to 40 million overnight," arguing it's liquidity-rich and at the perfect market cap for whale games — "there's a foundation, and all there is is growth." Asia: "I can see it. I believe it. Fuck it."
