Highlights

[9:10] — The ask, delivered from hour 32 of a fire shift. Sam laid out the initiative he'd wanted to launch before NFT NYC and didn't: an OG going up for auction in the name of Quirkies, out of his own wallet, for suicide prevention. He was, by his own accounting, "four o'clock… 32 hours into my shift," finishing sentences on fumes and cheerfully warning the room his phone had just flipped from Wi-Fi to data.

[12:17] — Sho asks the question that upgrades the whole thing. What if someone wants to help but can't bid? Sam admitted he hadn't provided a donation link last year and immediately folded it in — direct donations through the ride's website, 100% to AFSP, in Matt's name.

[14:01] / [17:27] — Coach's wallet idea, and the case for keeping it open. Coach suggested a wallet so people with a little liquid rather than cash could contribute. Then he came back to sharpen it: "let's call a spade a spade. This is an issue uh 365 days a year, not just for a month." Sam took both on board and sketched a plan to convert to USDC quarterly and keep donating in Matt's name through the year.

[21:40] — Sho speaks from experience. Sho, who noted the cause is near and dear to her, framed the whole point of the effort: visibility, and letting people know they aren't alone. It landed with the room as hard as anything in the hour.

[26:08] — Coach on loss, and on DMs being open. Coach shared losing his aunt a few months back, then pivoted to the practical version of care: DMs open, his, Sho's, Sam's. He undercut his own sincerity perfectly — a warning that once you start talking to Coach, he texts too much, calls too much, and (per Ash) voice-notes too much — before a brief tangle with Ash over whether "I didn't even see you down there" was a short joke. It wasn't. He also declined to dig that hole any further, "unless it's for fitness purposes."

[32:42] — Ash and the triple donut. The OG had belonged to Ricky Roller, who PFP'd it and would not let go, no matter what Ash offered, across years and time zones. She let it go — "if it's meant to be let it go and if it comes back to you" — and it came back, via Kevby, in a swap. First tongue-out quirk and first JPEG hoodie she's owned.

[35:32] — What she gave up for it. The only double donut Quirkling in the collection, bought for 1 ETH on reveal day when ETH was ~$4,000, from a seller who Ash is convinced knew exactly who the donut queen was — plus the whole alpha set to Kevby. Her verdict: the OG was worth more weight than all of it.

[40:39] — 68 bikers. Matt's mom asked Sam to count the bikes on last year's ride. He counted 68, meaning Matt made 69 — and she answered with tears and laughter at once. "She's like, of course, that's my son."

[43:03] — Coach volunteers the Harley. Coach offered to trailer his bike up for next year's ride. Sam, a firefighter and self-described helper rather than a biker, clarified he would not be riding; the negotiation settled on a sidecar. Pencil it in.

[53:21] — Love goes both ways. Coach closed the emotional arc of the hour by telling Sam the room sees him: whether or not the cause has touched each person directly, "the fact that it's affected you affects us."

[57:55] — The flowers, and the goodbye. Sho had to leave to co-host for Super, and refused to slink out without saying thanks first — then attributed the slinking-out maneuver to the wrong nationality, twice, in front of a host who turns out to have both Irish and Polish roots.
