Re:Invigorate With Woof — "WHO INVENTED THIS SHIT!"
Host: Woof (@WoofArmyXX) with co-host Margie B (@MargieAponte2) · Tue, Sep 15 2026 · 1:22:10 · ~8 speakers
TL;DR
- Morning show format: custom intro song, "weird news," coffee check, then the day's theme — the everyday objects nobody ever stops to question (shopping carts, zippers, traffic cones, Q-tips, bread clips, escalators).
- Weird news delivered 3D-printed cookies made from plastic and agricultural waste ("U-bites"), a drone-assisted emu manhunt, a color-cycling sleeping octopus, and Australia's rabbit resurgence.
- Uncle Corvus brought the day's actual research: the YKK on your jeans zipper stands for Yoshida Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, plus the origin of the term "vertical transporter" for an elevator, which Woof immediately stole.
- Berserker Bill dropped in on a lunch break to ask who invented time; Uncle Corvus came back at the very end and answered it from the third sentence of Genesis.
- Margie B won the Krazy Glue spelling dispute (it is, in fact, a K) and lost the "does a pen cap hole let you breathe or let saliva through" dispute.
- Housekeeping: Woof covering Re-envisioning Web3 at 12:15 for Liz (out getting wisdom teeth pulled), Wing It Wednesday tomorrow, and Margie B's Blinded by Love at 6:30 pm EST with trivia.
Highlights
[18:36] Scientists are turning plastic into cookies. Woof read out the NASA-adjacent research on engineered yeast converting PET plastic and farm waste into protein, fat, vitamins and even vanilla flavoring, 3D-printed into "U-bites." His summary: we spent decades being told not to eat the wrapper, and now the wrapper is lunch. Margie B fixated on the word "waste," concluded it meant poop, and retired from cookies on the spot.
[20:08] The feathered fugitive. An emu escaped a Rockland County petting zoo and police deployed a drone to track it. Woof's imagined dispatch call — suspect roughly six feet tall, extremely fast, covered in feathers, refusing all commands — plus a brief detour into whether the insurance-commercial bird is the emu or the duck. (It's the emu, and it's Liberty Mutual.)
[24:14] Uncle Corvus arrives, and takes the rabbit story personally. After praising the news segment he clarified that Australia's rabbit problem is the government's own fault — a grey rabbit brought in from England so the English could hunt them, then a century of baits, traps and poison leaving only the pests standing. His closing grievance, delivered with feeling: they've taken the guns, they make you register your sticks, and he has personally thrown a stick at a rabbit and missed.
[28:55] The coffee check goes full sommelier. Uncle Corvus walked through a made-of-minds blend — dark-roasted Papua New Guinean chocolate, a red-fruit Colombian, cut with a Brazilian house bean — then revealed the method behind it: he vacuum-seals 15-gram portions of the expensive single-origin bags he buys and freezes them for special occasions. At [30:23] he admitted he'd been hoarding them for over a year with nothing worth opening them for, and has been cracking them open for these Spaces.
[31:34] Who invented time? Berserker Bill popped in on lunch with the day's unanswerable question, and a genuine follow-up: if time is defined by the earth's turn and the distances involved, and those change, why doesn't the classification of time change too. Margie B answered first, at [32:12], with a bug. Bill and Uncle Corvus agreed to continue it at 1 pm in the watch room.
[34:00] The shopping cart was a hard sell. Sylvan Goldman's folding basket on wheels, Oklahoma 1937 — initially resisted because men thought pushing one made them look weak and women associated it with pushing a baby carriage. Goldman had to hire people to demonstrate it. Modern outcome, per Woof: 73 items when you went in for milk. The dumbest-thing-in-a-cart round followed — Woof pushed a pack of batteries around for half an hour, Uncle Corvus bought a 25-kilo bag of wild bird mix despite never owning a bird [37:25], and Margie B took the crown with a single electric toothbrush [39:15].
[41:09] The musical toothbrush already exists. Margie B floated inventing one; Burningbush arrived to inform her that sound-bite toothbrushes have been around forever and that conducting sound through your teeth is a better experience than hearing it with your ears. Margie B held firm that she has never once heard Daddy Yankee in her toothbrush, noted her birthday is October 13th, and priced the eventual two-dollar gift at $328.17 — payable in four installments [42:11].
[44:37] YKK, explained. Uncle Corvus read it straight off the page so as not to "stuff it up": Yoshida Kogyo Kabushiki Kaisha, a Japanese zipper company founded by Tadao Yoshida in 1934 — not the zipper's inventor, since Whitcomb L. Judson patented the clasp locker in the 1890s and Gideon Sundback developed the interlocking-tooth design after. Woof confessed he'd read YKK on a thousand zippers and never once wondered.
[47:50] The orange pyramid of authority. Traffic cones traced to road worker Charles D. Scanlon in the 1940s, and the question of why moving one feels like a federal offense. Uncle Corvus, who did a year and a half of night road works, turned serious at [50:13]: he saw two deaths caused by drivers cutting through the cones to get past, and asked people to read the signs because it isn't only their own life. Nisey reported from the Midwest that the cone has lost all standing and only the barrel commands respect [52:00], and Woof owned up at [52:52] to driving a HEMTT about a mile down the Autobahn flattening cones as a twenty-year-old — right up to the truck where a guy was still setting them out.
[55:19] The forbidden ear sticks. Cotton swabs went commercial in the 1920s and humanity looked at them and immediately thought "ear hole," despite a century of medical advice. The room then catalogued every other use: paternity swabs, STD tests, mascara cleanup, nail polish in a cotton-ball emergency, and Woof's own — cleaning rifles, by the ton. Margie B's confident claim that Q-tips also feature in colonoscopies was gently but firmly not adopted by the panel.
[1:04:15] The vertical transporter. Uncle Corvus recalled being told as a young worker that they had to go fix "the vertical transporter," walking all the way to the lift before realizing he meant the elevator. Woof adopted the term immediately and workshopped giving someone directions with it. At [1:06:28] Uncle Corvus extended the range: vertical transporters and diagonal deliverers, invented live on air.
[1:12:07] The tiny jeans pocket. Woof's answer was pocket watches. Nisey and Margie B's answer, in unison, was drugs. TinyJobuMothRider's answer was his imaginary mouse, who used to run along the side of the car on the highway and climb back in when he felt like it — later downgraded to dime bags and, crucially, the emergency payphone quarter for calling a ride home or calling to get out of jail.
[1:15:46] Uncle Corvus closes the loop on time. He came back for Berserker Bill, who'd already had to leave, and answered the morning's opening question with Genesis — light separated from darkness, day called day and night called night, and there was evening and there was morning, the first day. Then Margie B closed out on bubble wrap her daughter loved more than the $60 present inside it, silly putty as espionage equipment, and a promise of brisket, kangaroo tails and trivia at 6:30.

Who said what
- Woof (@WoofArmyXX, host) — ran the whole show off no slides and about an hour of sleep: weird news, invention histories with dates and inventors, and the recurring reminder that humanity will engineer anything to avoid twelve seconds of walking.
- Margie B (@MargieAponte2, co-host) — chief corny-joke officer and chaos generator; won Krazy Glue, lost the pen-cap-hole argument, invented the musical toothbrush thirty years late, and closed the show with bubble wrap and silly-putty espionage.
- UNCLE CORVUS (@unclecorvus) — the day's researcher and coffee correspondent; brought the YKK story, the "vertical transporter," real road-crew perspective on why cones matter, and the closing answer on where time began.
- Berserker Bill (@BillySc39828865) — lunch-break drop-in with the question that could have eaten the whole Space: who decided what time is, and why doesn't the definition drift as the earth does.
- Nisey (@Nisey1811) — Midwest field report on cone disrespect and barrel supremacy, the Q-tip's second career in mascara removal, and the theory that most inventions exist so we can be lazier and get the kids' shoes on faster.
- Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) — arrived just long enough to explain bone-conduction toothbrushes and promise Margie B a birthday one.
- TinyJobuMothRider (@JobuCoyote) — late-show contribution on the true purpose of the tiny jeans pocket: an imaginary highway mouse, then weed, then the payphone quarter.
- Host (@HostXweb3) — brief hello coming off night shift before duty called.
Worth a full listen
- [28:55]–[31:23] — Uncle Corvus's coffee tasting notes and the reveal of the vacuum-sealed frozen single-origin stash. It's a full sensory paragraph about a cup of coffee and then a genuinely warm reason for opening it.
- [47:50]–[55:16] — The cone stretch swings from Woof's "why does moving one feel like a federal crime" bit, to Uncle Corvus's sober account of two fatalities on his road crew, to Woof confessing to a one-mile cone massacre on the Autobahn in a HEMTT. The tonal range doesn't compress.
- [1:04:15]–[1:07:05] — The vertical transporter origin story and its immediate adoption, escalating into "diagonal deliverers." Best watch-it-happen-live moment of the show.
