TL;DR

Highlights

[13:39] "Everybody in this city has somewhere to be." Margie B delivers the line that became the Space's title, framing the whole morning's theme: everyone you cross paths with deserves to be treated kindly.

[23:00] Uncle Corvus takes the room to Kenya. His coffee check spotlights a blend of about eight micro-lot farms, hand-picked and hand-washed cherries, brewed as a 12:1 pour-over — "red apple crispness," black currant sweetness, stone fruit. He insists everyone grab a passport, a sundress, and a hat; Woof notes he owns no sundress.

[26:29] "Never judge a book by its cover." Uncle Corvus recounts young surf hopefuls in his beach café mocking two "bums" in dirty overalls — who were actually the connected Sydney surf-school men he'd invited down to sign them. He walked the kids over, introduced them, and watched the deal evaporate on the spot. Panicked fathers were in his shop within the hour.

[34:00] Margie B, walking Fifth Avenue like a freak. In her 20s she landed the job she wanted and skipped down the street beaming — until her mother demonstrated the smile back to her and declared, "of course they were looking at you, you look like a freak."

[44:00] Uncle Corvus on the person he almost never met. After a rough divorce, he'd retreated to a national-park cabin to lick his wounds; his California-born wife happened to turn up in the same tiny coastal town. He describes her as the only one to ever "put a collar on this dragon," and says he's still head over heels.

[48:00] The apocalypse-stranger draft. Woof runs a mock draft of who you'd trust in an apocalypse. Margie B picks the grandma who's "seen some shit," Corvus takes the woman with six grocery bags (logic: who's making the sandwiches?), and Woof backs the construction worker eating breakfast on heavy machinery.

[50:21] Why Corvus won't trust the machinery guy. That last pick triggers a genuine PTSD story: as a Sydney high-rise window cleaner, he bungeed down 16 stories through six windows because a man operating his cage was distracted eating a bacon-and-egg roll. The company lost its contracts.

[59:00] Woof relearns the stairs. After the hospital and his prosthetic, Woof drove to a mall with a big staircase to practice going down step-over-step. Frustrated to tears on the curb, a stranger told him she'd been watching and he was getting better — the nudge that got him to finally figure it out.

[1:08:00] Tomorrow's 9/11 remembrance. Woof announces a Space at 9 a.m. to honor the 25-year mark. Corvus says he'll sit respectfully in the listeners; Margie B shares that her mother went to the hospital on 9/11 and passed away a month later, making the day doubly heavy for her.
