Web3 Study Hall: Is Football for Losers?

Host: Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) with co-host Donny Ðoge (@DogeDonny2013) · Sun, Sep 13 2026 · 2h 40m · ~10 speakers

TL;DR

Highlights

[8:09] Regens rarity window-shopping. Before a single punch was thrown, the host and chazzgold.eth went spelunking through the Regens collection — including #4937, listed at $1,252, absolutely loaded with 0.01% traits ("vape drip, prescription glasses, pink lipstick… black ski mask"). Donny's appraisal: "That thing's full of .01% wow traits." At [12:52] the host explained his onboarding backlog: Jed offered him one, told him to pick from the top three, and has not sent it. Two other people sent him Regens in the meantime. The offer stands. The Regen does not.

[11:06] The giveaway algorithm problem. Donny posted an onboarding giveaway for one of his gold Regens. 250 likes, follow two accounts. Four hours later: one like. The room's diagnosis was unanimous — never type the word "giveaway," it gets throttled on sight. Say "up for grabs." Better yet, say "onboard." The algorithm cannot be reasoned with, only outmaneuvered.

[23:05] chazzgold.eth on relearning code. The sleeper moment of the first hour. Chazz coded as a kid, lost his languages to a traumatic brain injury around 2009, and is now reading terminal output line by line and interrogating the AI about how the code is written: "it's like healing my brain. It's like I'm actually learning how to like actually hard code again." He also has 11 years sober, mentioned in passing at [37:29] during a broader thread on staying in control.

[26:40] Disco diffusion nostalgia. The host mentioned writing some of the initial code for disco diffusion. Chazz recognized him instantly — still has the Google Colab folder sitting on his machine. Host: "I like to run it sometimes just to remind myself what I can." Chazz, with no hesitation: "And how bad it was."

[47:14] The mascot census. Pure Sunday-afternoon tangent, zero regrets. Chazz asked why there's no Bulls football team. Forty seconds later the room was conducting a full audit of pro sports animal mascots. Birds lead. Big cats second. Bears third. No goats. No rodents. No primates. No raccoons. Someone should look into that.

[59:31] Margie B enters and the space changes shape. She opened by roasting the host's elevator-music intro ("it literally had my teeth hurting"), declared for the Buffalo Bills, and moved directly to shoving the host through a folding table. The next forty minutes are one continuous Bills-vs-Eagles-vs-Niners roast with the host cheerfully lighting matches from the center of the room. At [1:16:56] he queued up the actual Bills fight song for her, then used it against them.

[1:36:26] The host's actual sport. A brief outbreak of calm: Burningbush walked on at Oklahoma his sophomore year, gave up his eligibility to sign pro, finished school in Kentucky while playing in Nashville, then worked for Everton for seven years. Donny asked how big a soccer pitch is. The answer — roughly seven miles of running per game — closed the case: "I tried soccer. I just — it's way too much running."

[1:40:00] The NFT map idea. SLICK RIC said he'd love to know where holders actually live so Northern California isn't stranded from the south. The host described the Alien Frens version he'd built — AI-optimized regional meetup locations, a budget for whoever hosts — then sketched the cross-community upgrade: paste a wallet address (no connection), scrape token IDs, toggle layers by collection, cap it at 15–20 vetted projects so the map doesn't drown in dead ones.

[1:58:31] Jed's walkout. Jed requested a walk-up song and received a full ring announcer introduction — "a thought leader on all things steak and staking… he kissed Wall Street goodbye to go rustle up some grub." His team declaration followed at [1:59:36], under what can only be described as visible duress. Then he and SLICK RIC dropped the temperature thirty degrees for a long, sincere stretch [2:02:36–2:10:09] on why the room feels different lately: IRL relationships over bags, people you can call when things are hard, and the host's own account of stepping away because he "never wanted to feel greasy" after a space.

[2:13:26] KING BUBUU's entrance. He opened with a story about a guy trying to rob him. The two of them then discovered a shared Saudi football history — the host lived there eight months and can still sing along. They compared Everton and Arsenal misery, agreed Mahomes is "tricky good," and Bubuu explained why he's never picked an NFL team, before listing the four he likes anyway.
