Campfire Chronicles 42 ποΈ Your Journey So Far
Host: Keys (@Cryptokeysm) with co-host NoCredits (@NoCredits_) Β· Wed, 23 Sep 2026 Β· 3h 46m Β· ~20 speakers
TL;DR
- Keys marked one year since his first NFT purchase (Sept 25) and episode 42 of Campfire Chronicles, and turned the show into an open floor for everyone else's origin stories instead of his own [5:41].
- Next week brings a guest back to the campfire after ~two months of in-house episodes: the founder of the Blackwater Syndicate collection, currently minting [7:11].
- Sirski shared the wildest war story of the night β selling a team-gifted DeFi Kingdoms NFT for over a quarter million, losing the job over it, then losing most of the money in the Terra/Luna collapse [56:21].
- Mac (@maccurated) delivered an extended, unvarnished take on on-chain research, avoiding paid KOLs, and building around a single artist you truly believe in β all while chasing his kids around a playground [2:11:12].
- Mama Bear traced her path from a Gary Vee Instagram clip to not knowing what Discord was to becoming a DAO signer, plus a warning: "don't hurt your account to help others" [1:48:55].
- The show's DNA got named and roasted in real time: Keys says "let's do this" so often that NoCredits proposed renaming the show, and a Buc-ee's tangent briefly became the space title [2:00:47].
Highlights
Kenny on community members carrying a project [16:25] β Kenny (@OGYuckyDuck)* described coming into web3 with no prior collecting experience, which he framed as an advantage: "we didn't know what a community was supposed to be," so they just built an online family. He then recalled an early Campfire with maybe 10-15 people and telling his wife they needed to find community members like Keys β his realization that it's often the members, not the founders, who make a project move.
Sirski's quarter-million-dollar mistake [56:21] β Prompted to name a failure that turned into something, Sirski (@sirsapient)* opened with the idea of owning failure without excuses, then told on himself: a team-gifted DeFi Kingdoms Genesis NFT, an offer over $250k, one sale, one firing. He probably set the collection's high sale. [1:00:19] Then the coda β he parked it all in Terra's stablecoin at ~20% staking because that "seemed risk-free," and woke up one morning with most of it gone. His own read: "It was money I never had," though he did buy a house first.
NoCredits on the trade that nearly cost more than money [1:05:14] β NoCredits found crypto trying to understand what COVID did to markets, convinced his wife to sell the house for gold, silver and crypto, then put a leveraged six-Bitcoin trade on that liquidated by a few hundred dollars. He was candid that it was the closest he's come to losing his marriage, and equally candid that he files the loss under cost of education β which is part of why he's still here.
Panda's 2017-to-now speedrun [1:13:13] β Panda (@PandaPals__)* walked the room from ICO mania and the CoinMarketCap pages you could count on one hand, through building a Telegram group of analysts because he was intimidated and wanted to learn, to launching his own token and NFT collection in 2025. On the near-scam first developer and the endless art iteration: those are micro-failures, and now he's armed with the experience to do it better.
Mama Bear's origin, from "I need Discord" to DAO signer [1:48:55] β She called her daughter to set up Discord, found Spooky Boys Country Club through an Instagram account flashing Lambos and boxes of money, and ground for whitelist all night next to a sleeping Papa Bear. A team DM led to a phone call and a DAO signer role β "I don't know what that is but let's fucking go" β and she was signing transactions before fully grasping what her signature authorized. The project rugged. The name Mama Bear was given to her by the community. [1:52:02] And then, almost as an afterthought: "Oh, and I did spaces for 650 days straight. Shit, I forgot about that."
Optic hijacks the format [2:04:19] β Optic (@beatsbyoptic)* opened his turn with a note-perfect impression of the host β "So let's do this. Okay, guys... before we get to Optic, we're gonna talk to 36 other people because no one really cares what Optic has to say" β and NoCredits joined in, announcing a bathroom break because Peanut was starting to talk. [2:06:57] Optic then pivoted hard into sincerity, backing Mama Bear's warning: plenty of people hiding behind cute kitty cats and penguins, so ask questions, split your wallets, move cautiously. He closed by telling Keys not to change a thing.
Mac on reading the chain instead of the timeline [2:11:12] β Joining from a playground mid-lunchbox-crisis, Mac (@maccurated)* explained Wackyville's on-chain reputation allowlist: not portfolio size, but whether someone bought art and kept it β proof they care about the artist. His research method is blunt: find the NFT a big account posted, match the exact trait, find the wallet, and if it's $5k of tokens and no art, block them. Do that for five years. [2:17:04] The why underneath it is his parents, artists who lost 50% of every gallery sale β which is what made digital art with full sales and royalties click for him.
"This is not a spot for business" [2:30:28] β Mac's closing advice ran against a lot of founder orthodoxy: don't tie yourself to an artist unless you'd grind for them, don't rush into being a "so-called founder," and don't be precious about people selling β they already supported you by minting. He noted he's taken not a cent from Wackyville, giving the mint funds to Yu-Yo so the artist gets the one thing that matters most: time.
BeeCuzFuture gives up a pink Rex [2:36:21] β Ava described NoCredits opening a trait crate, pulling the pink Rex she'd been hunting, and handing it over without hesitation β then a backwards pink cap turning up in her wallet from BeeCuzFuture. His response was that he'd been on the receiving end of exactly that once, in the macaroon collection: "you got your forever. So I'm grateful I got to play a part in it." [2:40:24] His own story runs shitcoins, a CM role, a team that stabbed him in the back, and the decision to just be unfiltered: "my name is Dan Greenberg, and I give a shit."
StormView's roof [3:32:05] β After a bit about being the forgotten crocodile hunter of the stage, StormView told how he faded Bored Apes at 900 bucks, watched them go to a million, and was down to three grand β before minting into Apocalyptic Apes, eventually selling one for 18 grand and putting a new roof on his house. [2:35:10] BeeCuzFuture had already lodged the other running joke of the night: he hasn't had to follow a new StormView account in a while, which counts as progress.

Who said what
- Keys (@Cryptokeysm) β host; framed the night around everyone else's first year rather than his own, ran an unusually long open floor, and absorbed the "let's do this" roast with good humor.
- NoCredits (@NoCredits_) β co-host; shared the Ethereum-then-fluffs origin and the leveraged Bitcoin trade he still calls tuition, held the room while Keys went for water, and proposed the show's new name.
- Sirski (@sirsapient) β brought the "owning failure" theme that shaped the middle hour, plus the DeFi Kingdoms sale and Terra collapse; also asked Keys the sharpest question of the night about whether a year of this ever stopped feeling wide-eyed.
- Kenny (@OGYuckyDuck) β early guest; on entering via Yucky Ducks with no collecting background and realizing community members, not founders, carry projects.
- Ava (@AvaaNCX) β recounted lurking, getting voluntold into the front, finding AI video, and closed with a call to show support publicly rather than in private DMs.
- Coda / Cody (@CodeeNCX) β opened deadpan ("I'm new to Web3, it's my second day"), then spoke honestly about people's reactions to other people's success.
- Mama Bear (@MamabearK444) β the night's most candid origin story, from Discord novice to DAO signer to 650 straight days of spaces, with a hard-won warning attached.
- Optic (@beatsbyoptic) β comic relief and then genuine caution; ran the best impression of the host anyone will do this year.
- Mac (@maccurated) β the long-form contribution of the space: on-chain due diligence, artist-first project building, and why he doesn't take a cent from Wackyville.
- Peanut (@peanutt) β on DeFi/reflection-token roots, the competition for mindshare, and staying fluid; closed the night by shilling someone else's marketplace instead of his own space.
- BeeCuzFuture (@BeeCuzFuture) β shitcoins to community manager to unfiltered self; gave up the pink Rex Ava had been hunting.
- Panda (@PandaPals__) β 2017 ICO-era history lesson and the two-year grind to launching his own project.
- BEASTfitHUSTLER (@BEASTfitHUSTLER) β meme coin war stories, including a dev who fled to the Philippines and a team that got the money back.
- StormView (@TribelessNFT) β faded apes at 900, minted Apocalyptic Apes, bought a roof; also the reason Keys kept showing up early on.
- Ex (@ExclusivoOne) β 2014-era entry, a hedge fund that "whooped my ass," and the EXC launchpad built with Soul Gods co-invested.
- Davuswho (@Davuswho) β offered free trait-tracking hubs to any artist or collection that wants one, purely as a passion project.
- Maaaaahhhaaaaa (@Maaaaahhhaaaaa) β Nibbles update: dev gone full-time, blind boxes incoming, ~14 IRL dinners this year.
- BigChed (@jpgBigChed) β five months in, on finding a place with heart after years of trading without community.
- StarSeed Witch (@Starseedwitch1) β dropped in near the end to praise the room size and the length of the space, and to ask how exactly one makes water.
Worth a full listen
- [54:02]β[1:10:05] β The failure block. Sirski's quarter-million sale and Terra wipeout, NoCredits' liquidated leverage trade and what it nearly cost at home, and Keys on strategy tokens and the greenest chart he'd ever seen. Three very different losses, told without excuses, in one unbroken run.
- [2:11:12]β[2:34:01] β Mac's twenty-plus minutes, punctuated by his kids' lunchboxes. On-chain reputation as an allowlist mechanism, how to spot a paid KOL from their own posted PFP, why his parents' 50% gallery cut made digital art obvious, and why he thinks "founder" is the wrong frame entirely. Dense enough that any summary loses it.
- [1:55:26]β[2:10:21] β The unserious stretch, and the room's best. Peanut's 3:20 a.m. Buc-ee's pilgrimage with his Uber driver, the space title briefly becoming "We Went to Bucky's," NoCredits proposing "Let's Do This" as the new show name, and Optic's impression rolling straight into the most sincere safety advice of the night.
