Real Talk with Waldo: low batteries, base cat, and a $15,000 giraffe kick

Host: Waldo (@waldoforrealz) Β· Sun 27 Sep 2026 Β· 6h 54m Β· ~17 speakers (Waldo, Toasty, WAGBi, Panda, Kerry, Cap/all your base, WRXcryptominer, Forge, Dr. Nicole, Curtis, Truman, Mothman Jones, Young Fab and friends)

TL;DR

Highlights

[2:41] The opening monologue: everyone's at 15%. Waldo sets the tone alone for nearly twenty minutes β€” rain, New Jersey "turned into Atlantis overnight," his grandfather in the hospital, and the sense that something is off across the whole timeline. His framing: someone at 15% battery trying to recharge off someone else at 15% just drains them both, and sometimes the fix is a movie and a few hours offline rather than another argument.

[7:34] WRX reframes the FUD. WRX pops up for two minutes between family stuff to argue that what people are calling FUD isn't fear, uncertainty and doubt at all β€” the uncertainty and doubt parts are already settled, so all that's left is fear, spread by herd mentality from people who half the time don't know what they're arguing about.

[12:44] Artist elitism and Waldo's own crash-out. Waldo admits to diving into an artist friend's DMs over an "AI art isn't real art" post and getting told, fairly, that he was crashing out. It turns into the space's most sincere thread: you can be a Da Vinci and still not have the right to tell the person next to you not to create.

[32:46] Toasty on how drama gets rewritten backwards. The clearest analytical moment of the early space. Toasty's method for any conflict is to skip the escalation entirely and go back to the origin β€” how did this person enter the room, how did they behave over a long stretch before anything went wrong β€” because whoever is telling the story at the end gets to choose where the story starts.

[1:01:57] The room becomes an automated phone system. Truman starts answering for a silent speaker as an AI voice menu, and within ninety seconds half the stage is pressing one for English, two for Spanish, and routing calls to movie phone and a 93.3-divided-by-pi request line. WAGBi eventually concedes his mind is broken. It's the funniest sustained run of the day and also, by everyone's admission, a total derailment.

[1:12:02] "That was my job. Connecting the phone sex calls." Truman's genuinely good story about answering a vague office-secretary ad at twenty in Toronto, arriving to discover an "independent contractor" role routing regulars through to Destiny β€” and being told that if Destiny fell asleep, she should take the call herself. She did not stay long.

[1:32:38] Dr. Nicole arrives, mid-topic, by accident. She only opened the app to upload an eight-minute video about why your hurt feelings aren't everyone else's problem, and walked into a room already discussing exactly that. What follows is the most substantive block in the space: emotional dysregulation as a childhood skill gap, internal vs. external locus of control, and why social media is feeding brains more input than they're built for. When friction with a listener spilled into the timeline, she stayed unbothered β€” "I have the debt to prove it" β€” and Waldo held his boundary on keeping the room on-topic [1:46:19].

[2:14:20] "A troll cannot battle a troll." Waldo's theory of engagement: two committed trolls locked in a duel will go 999 years until someone submits, and he's going to submit because he's hosting a space. Followed by the Titanic bit β€” if the ship goes down, he's the one strapped to the wheel yelling "Atlantis, here we go."

[2:32:16] Cap on base: block zero, the memo, and a meme summit. Cap corrects the record (all your base didn't launch on block zero, but a base dev wrote "all your base are belong to you" into the memo, which he thinks is better) and says he's coordinating a coordinated reveal, plus a live meme summit base asked him to help organize. Later [3:11:00] he pitches Sparks, the X-growth tool his girlfriend built β€” free credits for anyone in the room.

[3:24:01] Panda's reality check, and the friction it caused. Panda's argument: if you're going to call yourself a movement, be ready to get kicked in the teeth three or four times and eat 90% drawdowns, because fewer than one in a hundred projects really make it. Toasty pushed for room to stay hopeful, the exchange got a little crossed over who was talking about whose project, and both sides sorted it out on air β€” Panda clarifying he was speaking generally [4:50:09], Toasty apologizing for defensiveness and stepping away to get centered [4:54:26].

[3:43:10] Forge, returning from retirement, gives the best trenches lecture of the night. A self-described "professional round tripper" (he sold a two-and-a-half-year-old Base Dog bag for $40) on why conviction is only built on red days, why the power of one honest DM beats mass shilling, and β€” bluntly β€” why founders should be allowed to take a little profit without being shamed for it.

[4:39:44] Waldo mutes the room. After several minutes of everyone talking over each other about charts and founder responsibility, Waldo cuts in for the only hard moderation of the day, then delivers the long speech that anchors the whole space: teams have positions, not everyone is the quarterback, Toasty shilling Panda instead of his own project is a valid role β€” and the chart still matters because investors are real people. "I'll slap you with a waffle" is the stated penalty for interrupting Curtis next.

[4:27:09] Panda, secretly the gym's assistant manager. The Muscle Beach story earns Panda a round of escalating lore: WRX remembers the group previously establishing he's actually the guy in the back office filing paperwork (hence never out of breath), Waldo insists he bench-pressed 900 pounds, and his real voice is revealed to be several octaves higher than the one he uses on spaces, out of courtesy.

[5:33:03] Bamboo has no nutritional value, and other panda science. A genuinely researched tangent β€” Waldo watched a documentary β€” into why pandas eat so much bamboo for so little return, which he concludes is proof they were genetically engineered as an invasive-species solution. Then Young Fab arrives [5:38:06], and the room spends ten minutes establishing whether you'd accept a giraffe kick to the throat for $15,000. Young Fab would do it for one dollar, closing with a Nigerian proverb about the poor man and the elephant.

[5:49:53] The roll call. Waldo goes through the entire listener list by name, one by one, radio-DJ style, thanking each of them. It's about five minutes long and it's the thing several people call out afterward as the most Waldo moment of the space.

Notable quotes

"It's FUD, which is fear, uncertainty, and doubt, but we're not dealing with FUD right now… These projects are shit, and people are realizing that there is a lot of shit out there. It's not FUD. That's the funny part. We're β€” they're creating the FUD." β€” WRXcryptominer [7:34]

"Oftentimes what happens is things snowball and they end up getting rewritten by the end… and it's being rewritten from whatever point is convenient for the person who wants their narrative to win." β€” Toasty [32:46]

"Snowy has left a conversation. You are now returned to the main menu." β€” Truman [1:03:01]

"I think you're going about it the wrong way because Wagby isn't a meme, it's a movement… A movement needs to take place and form." β€” WRXcryptominer [2:56:28]

"When it's a green candle, that's not conviction, that's euphoria, bro… conviction is when someone is down 80%, down 90%, and is like, you know what, fuck this. I'm still here with you." β€” Forge [4:08:13]

"Stop cutting the conversation off. One motherfucker talk, the rest people listen, and then another motherfucker talk… That is how conversations are had." β€” Waldo [4:39:44]

Worth a full listen

[1:01:57] – [1:16:25] β€” The automated phone-system bit and the 900-number story. No summary survives contact with a room of grown adults routing each other to movie phone, and the job story that follows is a genuinely good one.

[3:43:10] – [4:17:34] β€” Forge's uninterrupted run. Conviction, liquidity management, soft-shilling in DMs, the Misa CTO story, and why founders shouldn't be shamed for taking a little profit. The densest practical stretch in nearly seven hours.

[4:39:44] – [4:55:44] β€” The chart debate resolving in real time: Waldo's team speech, Curtis's clarification that he wasn't attacking anyone, and Toasty naming his own state of mind and bowing out gracefully. A good example of a room handling friction without anyone leaving mad.
