Quirkies Sniper Sunday 🎯 β€” turtles, lings, and one very long story about a petting zoo

TL;DR

Highlights

[1:57] Two songs, on request. Piff opened the room with "Bang Pow Boom" off his upcoming album and then a custom Sniper Sunday track β€” a full three-minute rundown of grails, traits and floor-sweeping set to a beat. "Started with a quirkling" became a lyric Coach quoted back later.

[8:46] Coach gets a producer's note. Coach launched into hot floors within seconds of the music ending, and Sho stopped him to point out he hadn't greeted the panel β€” or wished Celos a happy birthday. "That's what happens when you feel like you're the main character. You just forget shit," he conceded [9:19], before handing the room back and christening Sho the new Web3 Oprah, aka Chopra [20:21] β€” a name that stuck for the rest of the hour.

[11:17] Anniversary, celebrated by delivery. Sho mentioned in passing that it was her 43rd wedding anniversary, marked with ordered pizza because "we're homebodies." Mac's response: "Congrats. 43 years. That's fucking a good effort" [12:41], plus the observation that people who commit in the real world tend to do better in this one.

[12:51] Save the turtles, twice. Mac explained that his friend Skip β€” quiet whale, Quirkies holder, top fake rares holder β€” had just acquired Shellmates, and that Mac immediately swept the floor and got to work drafting a marketing narrative to hand over. He liked the setup because the pun runs both ways: the project needs saving and so, in real life, do the turtles [15:23]. Papi had reportedly picked up 200+ that day.

[17:32] The four-year-old test. Mac's stated method for evaluating IP: show it to his kids. His four-year-old immediately started assigning turtles names and ownership. "You don't get that when you show them some trash." Quirkies and Wackyville pass the same test.

[18:30] Coach's day, in real time. Given the floor to describe his Sunday, Coach delivered a one-year-old's birthday party in 93-degree South Florida, complete with a petting zoo β€” "I don't really understand how heat plus animals equals an unpleasant environment, but it does" β€” while Sho periodically asked what time of day he'd reached so she'd know how much longer this would take. He was only five minutes in.

[25:01] Molly's companion alpha. Asked for her top Quirk Kid pick, Molly chose 3985 β€” the sheriff hat, the matching outfits β€” then revealed the real reason: it's the first companion she ever designed. The gummy hair came from her earliest Quirk Kids trait work, drawn before Quirklings entered the picture, which is why it reads like a plushy Quirky.

[28:28] The vaporware rant. Mac's longest stretch and the closest thing to a thesis: buy nice traits when the chain is quiet (he cited a Bored Ape picked up under 8 ETH that had sold for 16.69 four weeks earlier), and vet founders by opening their wallet. "If I check a founder's wallet, I want to see a board ape in there... I want to see that you've got enough money in the real world that I can trust you with my crypto." He closed on ETH mainnet outlasting everything and artists who show up daily deserving support.

[38:02] Gm on the family in Georgia. Gm (@gmatoall)* came up with news that her granddaughter, husband and great-grandson had left for the country of Georgia, where he plays pro basketball. Her three-year-old great-grandson is already in the 70th percentile for six-year-olds β€” dad is over seven feet. Coach's contribution: "tell the seven-footer I want to play him one on one. I'll just run right through his legs."

[46:39] The La-Z-Boy tangent. Somewhere between Inks call-outs the room drifted into recliners, Coach recalling that the only reason to visit his grandpa's house was the La-Z-Boy footrest, up and down, while watching Columbo. He caught himself: "why are we talking about lazy boys?" Sho, deadpan: "What space am I in right now?"
