Macarune Mint Party!
Host: Superhighgasfees (@SHGFees) with cohost Sho (@AgogoKaren) · Date: Fri, Sep 18 2026 · Duration: 2:04:49 · ~9 speakers
TL;DR
- A live mint-day hangout for Macarune, Yummy The Artist's (@Yummy_TheArtist) hand-drawn, Japan-inspired PFP collection — 0.015 ETH on Ethereum/Robinhood, minting on OpenSea.
- OpenSea's mint config broke repeatedly (whitelists not populating, wallet limits showing anything from 8 to 2,000), and Yummy spent much of the first half on the back end with Mango trying to unjam it [20:19].
- The room turned into an impromptu support/shill squad: Super attempted a QVC-style sales pitch on request, Burningbush delivered a full elevator pitch parody of it, and a speaker in the room started calling his OpenSea contacts mid-Space [26:57].
- Public mint went live at [1:00:02] and numbers started running; reveal targeted for Sunday afternoon ET, with one true 1/1 plus "legend" trait combos.
- The centerpiece: Yummy's ~12-minute origin story of the name "Macarune," born in a tiny Osaka alleyway bar when an older Japanese man locked onto an embroidered patch for half an hour and said "this is me" [1:42:43].
- Yummy also revealed his day job — veterinary surgeon — and that he hand-drew every pixel himself [58:20].
Highlights
[11:59] — "It hasn't been minting as fast as I thought." Sho opened honestly about the pace, and Super admitted he'd gotten "overly bullish" expecting it to fly. Both landed in the same place: the reason to be in is the founders and the years of prep, not the speed of the counter.
[17:53] — Super gets drafted into QVC mode. A speaker in the room (Jed)* interrupted Super's sincere, long-winded appreciation with a demand for actual salesmanship: "You lost me already, bro... I want to hear the selling voice of Super High." Super reset, pitched the 0.015 price, the Robinhood IP angle, and the pre-mint groundwork [18:52] — and got a rave review for it, which quietly became the running arc of the entire Space.
[20:19] — Yummy comes up with the bad news. He explained that OpenSea had been chosen for the guaranteed featured spots and check marks, then broke the whitelist "like 50 fucking times" and applied wallet limits that stopped people minting entirely. The room's response was uniformly to hold the line: Super noted he'd never seen a mint execute flawlessly [22:55], Sho reminded him the right people would end up holding regardless [24:03], and Lyss asked mint-day commenters to remember there's a person behind the project [28:31].
[34:00] — The case for Asian character-brand IP. Speaker 6 (Jed)* made the sharpest market argument of the day: Hello Kitty–style brands work because they seed collectible stores rather than blitzing big-box shelves, and Macarune already has real-world presence and awareness in Asia. His read on the slow mint: "this is gonna be like a Cinderella story."
[41:21] — Hats, cores, and why the art is deliberately unfinished. Yummy explained the design philosophy: a simple, warm base character you can project yourself into, with hats and traits as the identifying trait that makes a character a main character. His own favorites: the salted caramel base and the wooden samurai hat [43:00]. Later he described the emblems as real Japanese manhole-cover crests, one of them Kyoto's [46:00].
[53:53] — Burningbush does his Super impression. Asked for nothing by anyone, he delivered a full-fidelity elevator pitch: "A samurai beaver and a kabuto helmet, a bow-tied little cow, Sakura petals... Think Hello Kitty meets Web3," complete with live mint numbers and the signature sign-off, "no smoke, just fire. And this is the burning bush."
[1:25:10] — Tim reports in at 20 macarunes and requests a body pillow. Having max-minted (and, by his account, mowed his lawn in record crooked time to get home for it), Tim asked for whale status and a full-body pillow for his wife. Yummy explained the manufacturing math and a ten-day Chinese holiday; Sho reported Psycho Kitty was at 22 and gently escalated the arms race [1:31:50].
[1:42:43] — The Osaka bar story. The emotional core of the Space. In a narrow Osaka bar, Yummy handed an embroidered patch to an older man, who held it in both hands and stared into the character's eyes for half an hour while his wife slowly wrapped him in a half-hug "like they're looking at a brand new baby." The man finally tapped Yummy's shoulder with tears in his eyes: "This is mine, this is me." Then he said the name — perfectly [1:46:29]. Yummy decided the name's origin belongs to that man, and to Japan.
[1:47:55] — Kiara, and what the collection is actually for. Yummy contrasted Western character-making ("look at my cool character") with the Japanese kiara — a character that says "take me with you," a buddy and outward persona. The old man had been looking for his kiara all his life. That's why Yummy won't publish the storybook canon yet: he wants holders to find their own, not be spoon-fed [1:50:33]. At [1:59:01] he unpacked the "rune" in Macarune as closer to an omamori — a protective charm you carry and never open.

Notable quotes
"I want to hear the selling voice of Super High. This is your moment, bro." — Speaker 6, likely Jed [18:28]
"My words kind of my bond, so whenever I kind of give out a guaranteed, I'd expect that to be a guaranteed." — Yummy, on the whitelist failures [29:21]
"Think Hello Kitty meets Web3... no smoke, just fire. And this is the burning bush." — Burningbush [53:53]
"I'm actually a veterinarian in real life, surgeon... so I save puppies and kitty cats in the day. At night I draw cute characters. Like, that's kind of just me. It's my life." — Yummy [58:20]
"This is mine, this is me." — the man in the Osaka bar, as recounted by Yummy [1:46:29]
"It's the act of that giving that is the actual gift. So it's a gift that you carry with you that you never opened." — Yummy, on omamori [2:00:30]
Who said what
- Superhighgasfees (@SHGFees) — host; opened with an Olivia Rodrigo set he insists is not weird, then spent the Space discovering he can, in fact, shill: hand-drawn art, price-of-a-meal comparisons escalating from McDonald's to a bowl of lasagna, and "macaroon to the moon."
- Sho (@AgogoKaren) — cohost and the person who put the project on everyone's radar; part hype, part den mother — reminding Yummy to watch his blood pressure, tracking mint counts, and steering the room back to the story.
- Yummy The Artist (@Yummy_TheArtist) — founder and artist; alternated between live OpenSea triage and the day's best storytelling. Hand-drew the whole collection, publishes books, saves animals for a living, and ended the Space heading off to "battle kids."
- Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) — steady voice on mint-day tech problems ("these projects are too good to fail"), noted Sunday's reveal is the day that actually matters, and delivered the pitch of the night as a Super impression.
- Speaker 6 (Jed)* — pushed Super to actually sell, made calls to his OpenSea contacts mid-Space, and gave the most developed thesis on Asian character-brand IP as a slow-burn Cinderella play.
- Lyss (@Lysss302) — the room's acknowledged master seller (of pillows), here mostly to remind mint-day commenters that real people are behind the dashboard.
- Tim (@tim_8093) — comic engine of the second hour: mowed his yard at speed, wrestled a ledger, max-minted to 20, requested a body pillow, and proposed an RWA macarune token purely to torment the founder.
- PiffsPeak (@RealPiffsPeak) — minted three and plans to buy the ones he loves post-reveal; also the subject of a sustained bit about pocketed bacon he would like never memed.
- DaFameless (@DaFameless) — suggested extending the FCFS window during the outage, and brought real Okinawa knowledge to the shisa/guardian-lion trait question.
- Dan (@brokenrealitydh) — came in straight from working the dogs, aped in, and spoke as an artist about what it means to channel inspiration and keep dignity in the creative process [1:02:55].
Worth a full listen
- [1:38:00]–[1:52:15] — The Osaka bar story, the kiara explanation, and why the storybook canon is deliberately withheld. This is the reason the Space exists, and paraphrase flattens it badly; Yummy nearly doesn't get through it.
- [53:53]–[1:00:02] — Burningbush's elevator-pitch impression running straight into the public-mint countdown, with the live counter climbing. The room's energy peak.
- [1:34:40]–[1:37:10] — Pure regular-crew nonsense: the bacon-in-the-pockets origin myth, missing lamb chops, and a proposed noir episode with bacon references. No project information whatsoever, which is the point.
