Happy Hour 35 β Magic Eden back in the news. Were you safe?
Host: Mike Campbell πποΈ (@mikecampbelltv) Β· Fri, Sep 25, 2026 Β· 3h 17m Β· ~13 speakers
TL;DR
- The whole first hour is about the Magic Eden approval exploit: nobody on stage got hit, and the room repeatedly credited 0xQuit (25,000 NFTs / ~$6M rescued, roughly $7,500 of gas out of pocket), Pappy and the Quirkies dev, Drew, and Boring Security.
- Practical takeaway pushed hard by Mike and chazzgold.eth: run your wallet through revoke.cash (you can paste an address without connecting), check past page one of the list, and the ~$100/year subscription will auto-revoke approvals after transactions.
- Dan (@brokenrealitydh) came up for the first time and told the origin story of his "recap" bot β built live during a Regenerates space to find one funny hot-mic moment, now summarizing and timestamping spaces across X.
- Dan raised the night's sharpest structural point: Web3 asks people to sign contracts nobody can read, and nothing stops the ecosystem from shipping plain-language transaction previews.
- TatakaeFYT (James)* gave a Tata Kai / Ichiba update β ~91% staked, 77+ orders shipping worldwide, slabs arriving β and confirmed on air that Fight Passes will be burnable for extra token at TGE.
- Long, cheerful drift through hockey, bowling, Marfa, the WNBA, ballpoint-pen portraits and one very firm public service announcement about not stalking SpaceKitty.
Highlights
[5:44] Mike opens on the hack, and on the people who cleaned it up. Before any market talk, Mike ran through what he'd done months ago (revoke everything, keep almost nothing approved) and pointed people to revoke.cash's checker page. He came back to 0xQuit repeatedly through the night: 25,000 NFTs, over $6M, and an ETH address on his profile if anyone wants to help cover the gas.
[12:53] Bored Osaka reframes it as a shared wound. He argued everyone is affected when friends post drained wallets, noted his own drain years ago, and predicted the fallout will be a setup, not just a setback β more security classes, more white papers, more hand-holding.
[22:00] The "meeting of the minds" question. Mike, who by his own account got accepted to law school and never went, wondered aloud how a signature can be valid when nobody can read what they're signing β and described bailing on a purchase earlier that day when OpenSea kicked him to Blur with an unreadable transaction, then redoing it directly through Blur from his Rabby wallet.
[29:32] chazzgold.eth's revoke audit. He discovered revoke.cash only shows the first 25 entries by default, expanded the list, found 95 live approvals β including Known Origin, a platform that no longer exists β and nuked all of them. He also bought the yearly auto-revoke subscription, and noted his Manifold and Transient Labs contracts were the only ones with zero warning flags.
[43:37] Marfa, sold in one sentence. Chaz's pitch for Marfa β "cross Art Basel, NFT NYC and Burning Man, put it in the desert with generative art" β briefly horrified Mike, who wants art galleries and comfort and absolutely no desert. By [46:23] Chaz had walked it back to a town of 800 people, 21 galleries in eight blocks, and coffee with artists you only know by handle, and Mike was in.
[59:01] Dan explains where the recap bot came from. He missed a funny hot-mic moment in a Regenerates space, said live on the mic that he'd build a tool to find it, and had it working that same afternoon β then thought it'd be funnier to post the whole summary. The name came in two seconds, and he's worked on it daily since, with Lex Fridman's time-coded YouTube chapters as the inspiration for topic-by-topic breakdowns.
[1:12:00] Ballpoint pens, deadlines and permanence. Mike described his daughter's congressional-art-competition-winning portrait, done entirely in ballpoint pen out of 21 Pilots lyrics and titled "10.5 Pilots," plus his theory that creative procrastination isn't avoidance β the brain's working the whole time. Dan, a ballpoint devotee himself, got chills: you can't erase it, so every deviation means something. Mike's addendum at [1:17:46]: films are never finished, only abandoned β launch at 80%.
[1:36:24] The essence of comedy. proofOfalphadgn came up, announced an airplane was flying directly over his head, and vanished. Mike, deadpan: "that's the essence of comedy is timing" β then asked Agent to ask him what the essence of comedy is, and blew the setup by answering early.
[1:41:44] When the commercial auditions changed. Mike, on the moment he knew his corner of the business was over: a new line appeared on the sign-in sheets next to your name and SAG number β how many followers do you have. Julianne connected it straight to book publishing, where houses increasingly want authors who already have an audience.
[1:43:30] Dan's parting thought: make the contract readable. You can drive a car without understanding the transmission; Web3 insists you understand the transmission and then shows you hex. Bored Osaka picked it up at [1:45:23] β this is the moment the format changes, and expensive lessons are still lessons: "as long as it doesn't take your life, you will recover financially."
[1:56:26] Mike on Caitlin Clark, at length and unprompted. Jersey sales second only to Steph Curry, a $250K one-of-one rookie card, charter flights the league suddenly had to fund, the Sparks moving games to crypto.com Arena when the Fever come to town β and his frustration that anyone would rail against success that simply showed up and played. He eventually asked Bored Osaka to save him from himself.
[2:07:23] Midcap on utility and the attention economy. He opened the RWA thread: NFT projects taking real shots at utility often have solid teams but lose to Crypto Twitter's short attention span and thin liquidity. Mike tied it back to Tata Kai's 91% staking and Stonk Brokers holders who don't sell because value already flows back, and Bored Osaka drew the line at [2:21:13] between projects built for exit liquidity and projects that become actual businesses.
[2:27:12] The best advice in the space. ΞxecΟ tiΞ½eape Ξpe hesitated to DM Farmer with what he assumed was a simple question. Mike's answer β don't say no on someone else's behalf; they're adults, they can decline β landed hard enough that TatakaeFYT called it "a one to grow on" and compared Mike to Alan Thicke.
[2:35:00] Smitdog's hockey game confession. A group of eight, roughly a hundred draft beers, a concrete ledge at the very top of the arena, and β not him, he'd like it noted β about ten full beers launched onto the ice at the end of the second period, followed by a very casual walk to the front door while people pointed.
[2:57:18] Tata Kai alpha, live. TatakaeFYT broke down the 230 Fight Passes (16 golds for IRL tickets and autographed cards, rubies for 10β20 athletes shipped monthly), then confirmed for the first time on air that at TGE you can burn the pass for more token β and that rewards continue at a lesser interval if you don't.
[3:01:07] SpaceKitty asks the room for real help. She came up looking for the doctors and psychologists quietly scattered through the Bored Ape community, describing her daughter's worsening tic and her reluctance to have anything on a permanent medical record. Mike, careful to note he's not a doctor, said get her seen β and that what goes on paper is still her call.
[3:08:51] proof's closing TED Talk. "It costs zero dollars to do something good... you don't have to sign a transaction, you don't have to do shit to be a good person," followed by a genuinely good extension of trading risk management into ordinary life decisions. He signed off by thanking everyone for letting him turn the space into his YouTube channel.
[3:12:15] Do not stalk SpaceKitty. After SpaceKitty flagged that strangers had somehow found her email, Mike issued a formal advisory. SpaceKitty's own supporting testimony: alligator snapping turtles in flip-flops, a four-and-a-half-foot iguana in the rain in heels, and a childhood spent taunting bulls. At [3:13:47] she clarified that her extensive kangaroo-fighting experience is entirely theoretical β she just coaches Agent on it so often it feels real. Bored Osaka's great-white cage-diving invitation was declined with prejudice at [3:14:49].

Who said what
- Mike Campbell (@mikecampbelltv) β host. Set the security tone up top, kept returning to Quit's gas fund, and carried the long-form storytelling: auditions, hockey, Caitlin Clark, his daughter's art. Closed the room because he was hangry.
- Bored Osaka (@BoredOsaka1) β cohost energy throughout: welcomed the audience by name, framed the hack as a community-wide event, and drew the projects-vs-businesses distinction late in the RWA conversation.
- chazzgold.eth (@chazz_gold) β the night's practical security example (95 forgotten approvals), plus generative art, Marfa evangelism, and a Mid Journey "Borrowed Words" series built from other people's quotes β including Dan's own bot output.
- Dan (@brokenrealitydh) β first-time speaker, builder of the recap bot; told his origin story from flatbed scanners and Macromedia Flash to today, and left the room with the human-readable-transactions idea.
- Agent (@agentbye) β cohost checking in between drawing requests from his kids (the assignment was "kangaroo"), and grateful that people he calls friends still have their NFTs.
- TatakaeFYT (James, @tatakaefyt)* β Tata Kai / Ichiba updates, staking at 91%, shipping stats, and the Fight Pass burn reveal. Also the room's sports-trivia department and a persistent, reasonable plea: post your slab wins.
- Midcap (@MidcapMoonshot) β opened the utility/RWA thread, holder of a Fight Pass, floated a weekend space for anyone who wants to go deeper.
- Smitdog (@SmitdogEth) β checked his own approvals back to March, talked Clemson and the Hurricanes, and delivered the beer-on-the-ice story.
- ΞxecΟ tiΞ½eape Ξpe (@Executiveape1) β founder building on Ape Chain, asked about Anvil/Foundry compatibility, and closed on keeping the focus on what's good in front of you.
- proofOfalphadgn (@the_alpha_dgn) β arrived under an airplane, left with the best closing monologue of the night.
- SpaceKitty (@SpaceKittyXD) β brought a genuine parenting question to a room full of quiet doctors, then a full inventory of animals she has and has not fought.
- NevaRest_Pro / John (@counselman_john) β wallet-permissions question about a Coinbase Wallet popup, and the Cutting Edge "toe pick" recall.
- Julianne (@JM_Sadowski) β connected the built-in-audience problem to book publishing as she weighs traditional vs. self-publishing.
Worth a full listen
- [59:01] β [1:11:36] β Dan's uninterrupted arc from the recap bot's origin to his whole career: art to scanners to Photoshop to a second-place national finish he only reached because the first-place kid forfeited. It's the most complete personal story in the space and the summary flattens it.
- [1:11:36] β [1:21:00] β Mike and Dan on ballpoint pen, deadlines, permanence and launching at 80%, capped by Mike's story of the congressional art award and the tattoo his daughter designed. Quiet and genuinely moving.
- [3:06:09] β [3:17:00] β The closing round: ΞxecΟ tiΞ½eape Ξpe on positivity, Bored Osaka telling everyone to call their people, proof's risk-management sermon, and then the room detonating into kangaroos, shark cages and an official do-not-stalk advisory. Perfect landing.
