Happy Hour 39 β The Cardwall's first million, Moonbirds on deck, and a pair of safety goggles
Host: Mike Campbell (@mikecampbelltv) with co-hosts Bored Osaka (@BoredOsaka1) and Agent (@agentbye) Β· Thu, Oct 1 2026 Β· 3:36:36 Β· ~15 speakers
TL;DR
- The Cardwall crossed $1MM in four days; founder Point (@point_onefive) came up and walked through buybacks, odds, the crane's finite-inventory design, and a planned 24/7 liquidity pool for slabs.
- The upcoming Moonbirds x stockbroker collab opened the show, with the room landing on a shared question: the partnerships are real, but will the partner communities actually show up?
- Point confirmed Mansur swapping is being integrated directly into the Cardwall so users never have to leave the site, plus share-to-X and binder exports.
- APESister Grace volunteered to run Chinese-language Spaces about the Cardwall; Point offered draws for them and Tusk offered to spin up a dedicated job for it.
- SpaceKitty shared the day's solution for her daughter Aurora's Tourette's β safety goggles over glasses so she can do homework with a pencil β and the room turned it into prescription-goggle leads, an eye-doctor connection, and a list of basketball players who wore them.
- A long, lovely tangent on vinyl, sound engineering, and why music is math ended with Mike's Churchill paraphrase about what we're fighting for.
Highlights
[09:31] Moonbirds, and who actually shows up. Mike opened on a Moonbirds holder asking whether the stockbroker collab would pump the birds, and flipped the question around: the stockbrokers and interns will show up because that's what they do β the real variable is whether the partner community does. Bored Osaka and Agent built on it, with Agent noting that most of the Nightshades participation seemed to come from the stonk broker side rather than the partner collections.
[14:44] AnIdiot on which communities you actually want in a gamified ecosystem. Walking his dogs on a dark trail at 76 degrees, AnIdiot made the case that the "button clicker" communities β the mutants on Otherside, the Little Pudgys on Abstract β are the ones that make these things work, and floated a hunch that the Moonbirds collab might land as an on-chain TCG. No info to base it on, he admitted; he just wants it to be fun.
[17:35] "Hi, my name's Mike. I'm a cardwall addict." Instead of writing a work self-assessment, Mike spent two hours pulling and selling back, kept two PSA 10s (a One Piece and a PokΓ©mon), and came out slightly ahead β but the real point was that he'd happily pay for the entertainment either way. AnIdiot countered with restraint: a $30 Jigglypuff given back, then a $140 PSA 6 Blastoise, and out of the casino for the night.
[19:30]β[22:16] Cards as a lifelong condition. Mike on taping football cards to bicycle spokes in 1970s Colorado to make motorcycle noises, the obligatory Mickey Mantle-cards-thrown-out-by-grandma story, and the $2 Don Mattingly slab he keeps anyway. Later [25:00] this curdled beautifully into Bored Osaka's suggestion that we print the gremlins out of our hidden NFT folders and put those in our kids' bike spokes. "Now there's some utility."
[30:22] AnIdiot declines Ape Fest. Asked if he'll make it, he was clear: "I'm a mountain man." Bored Osaka offered to build a mountain behind the studio so the two of them could climb up and down it unobserved, which AnIdiot accepted for next year's build.
[1:07:05] Point on the liquidity problem. The Cardwall matches Collector Crypt's odds and buybacks by design β "at very least tie" with the industry leader β with a 72-hour sell-back window. What he's most excited about is private funding for a slab liquidity pool so people can cash out any time: no shame, no repercussions, and the slab goes back into the machine as "more food for the crane."
[1:42:11] The crane is a kuji machine. Point explained the crane's finite-inventory model: 100 boxes, visible contents, odds that improve as boxes get pulled, and a Japanese-style "last one bonus" attached to the final box to incentivize clearing the machine. The soft launch sold out immediately.
[2:09:41] Dutchee on why vinyl hits different. After Bored Osaka described opera on vinyl as almost tactile, Dutchee jumped up at 3:30 a.m. local time to confirm it β dynamic range, lost to digital β then traced his own path from post-high-school sound engineering into a tech career, arguing the best technologists he's met are music people who learned the rules in order to break them. Mike ran it forward into music-as-mathematics, the Aerospace Players, and [2:22:32] a Churchill story about diverting arts funding to the military.
[2:30:18] Goggles. SpaceKitty described her daughter's tics getting constant enough that writing with a pencil had become genuinely dangerous β two-second windows between episodes, diving for the paper each time. Her solution of the day: her dad's woodworking safety goggles strapped on over the prescription glasses. Mike pointed out prescription goggles exist; Tusk [2:34:37] offered to connect her with an eye doctor he knows; the room supplied the basketball-players-in-goggles canon, including the WNBA. Bored Osaka: "This is web three."
[2:46:33] NevaRest comes in hot. John came up specifically to register how hurt he was that Smitdog won the Cardwall giveaway instead of him, lost his train of thought mid-complaint, and then couldn't hear anything anyone said. Bored Osaka's diagnosis: "He came in too hot." Mike's prescription: take a lap. SpaceKitty [2:49:55] used the opening to formally rename the host Old Lady Monster Mike, with the warning that these names only ever get longer.
[3:05:56] How to tell Aurora's story. SpaceKitty asked the room for platform and format advice for documenting her daughter's Tourette's. Mike's answer: TikTok for the age group, video, phone camera, and nobody cares how polished it is β Gary V turning the camera around to sell wine, versus old Hollywood curating Henry Fonda out of ever playing a villain again. Just be honest; overthinking is the enemy.
[3:29:00] Asun's dispatch from tomorrow. Calling in from Australia mid-drive, Asun gave an unvarnished update β sick kid, a day off Ubering, a Kmart 7 a.m. PokΓ©mon restock for a mate, and a plan to park in the shade and rip some old Magic packs that are "probably gonna be jack shit." James's review: "I just felt like you're on a news channel right now."

Worth a full listen
- [1:40:41]β[1:48:19] β Point's uninterrupted explanation of odds transparency and the kuji-style crane, ending on why simplicity beats intricacy when you're too close to your own product. The clearest look at how the thing is actually built.
- [2:09:41]β[2:23:04] β Vinyl β sound engineering β music is math β the arts are the point. Dutchee and Mike building on each other, capped by Grace singing Jasmine Flower in Chinese and English.
- [2:30:18]β[2:45:58] β SpaceKitty's goggles story and the room spontaneously turning into a resource network. Hard to summarize without flattening it.
