COYOTES AND CROWS

Host: UNCLE CORVUS (@unclecorvus) · Wed 23 Sep 2026 · 2:06:40 · ~5 speakers (Uncle Corvus, Margie B, TinyJobuMothRider, Liz, plus drop-ins)

TL;DR

Highlights

[4:28] The morning X had eaten everything. Corvus opened with a full forensic account of his day: posts silently going to drafts, the app flashing white and closing every time he tried to message, and — the real insult — discovering the first 47 people he'd ever followed had quietly been unfollowed on his behalf. Margie B's phone had died at 97% battery around the same time, which did nothing to dispel the sense that the platform was personally out to get them.

[11:00] A Sydney nightlife story that ends at the doctor's office. Corvus painted a genuinely fond picture of old Marrickville — auditorium-sized Greek restaurants, $40 at the door, bottomless jugs, tables cleared at 10pm and the whole room turning into a nightclub with no air conditioning. It then took a hard left into how a mate earned the nickname "the Colonel," a corn kernel, and a pair of tweezers. Everyone now assumes he's ex-military. Jobu, listening from the shower, reported he nearly threw up [18:33].

[15:32] The invisible crowd. Corvus, looking at an empty listener count: "It's just the four of us, it's us four crickets every night." Margie B countered with pure faith-based analytics — the hundreds are down there, you simply have to believe in them. The bit resurfaced later when the room was mysteriously 4,000 strong [1:43:16].

[27:24] Liz passes the strawberry test. Liz joined after Corvus had spent several minutes insisting she was an automated AI agent posted to the room by the Chinese ("It's automated. I've got her bot."). She explained she'd made her goodnight post hours earlier but declined to schedule it because that wouldn't be authentic. Corvus asked for one final verification: say "strawberry." She said it. Verdict at [28:14]: "Nah, that's Liz for sure."

[29:25] Australia, and why everyone's leaving. Corvus laid out his frustration with new Australian laws — recording glasses, the loss of trusts, unrealised gains tax — and Liz, whose college major was politics, offered a sympathetic outside read: that for everything the country has going for it, the direction of its government is actively deterring people from moving, building, and growing there. Corvus's reply at [31:19] was the most heartfelt stretch of the space: Australia gave his immigrant family everything, and watching everyone he met at a Gary V seminar pack up for Dubai, Singapore and Malaysia has devastated him. He still ends every day in the bush, and had two grey kangaroos on film to prove it.

[33:51] The rubber duck synchronicity. Jobu bought four rubber duckies at a gas station on his drive for no reason he can articulate (a giraffe, an elephant, one in a shower cap). Ninety minutes later he pulled into a rest stop next to a blue Jeep with a yellow grill, fully ducked out, dashboard covered in hundreds of rubber ducks. He took it as a sign. He does not know of what. Corvus blamed the reticular activating system; the room accepted this as science.

[41:24] Jobu's joke run. Asked to describe his girlfriend as a body part, a man picks the little toe: small, brings balance, and "I really only think about you at three in the morning when I bang you on the coffee table." He followed it with two giraffes and a punchline about it being sexual giraffes. Margie B's response was to put Godzilla on the jumbotron and consider sending it to his house.

[45:49] The swear jar is Woofie's panel. Corvus explained, seriously, that he's asked to be demoted to listener if he swears on another host's stage. With a doctrine drop coming built on Ephesians 6 and the armour of God, he doesn't think he can keep speaking the way he speaks and still lead by example — and Liz had inadvertently prompted the decision with an offhand comment in another space. Jobu added the story of a heavily tattooed pro gambler who quit swearing on pure time-efficiency grounds: cut the filler, keep the thinking [47:52].

[1:02:00] The F-16 flyby. Corvus's father-in-law — who still has base access — drove him to a car park, checked his watch, and told him to wait. A fighter took off metres away, the pilot looked across, banked back over the car park and gave a thumbs up. The old man had arranged the whole thing. "It doesn't take much for me to go back to being 10, and that day, holy shit balls." His mother-in-law, meanwhile, used to decode Russian submarine traffic.

[1:21:10] How to sell cold brew to strangers. A genuinely useful tangent: Corvus described posting to Instagram on arrival at a random spot, geo-targeting within a kilometre radius, and watching office workers come running down the esplanade toward his bike. Three days to ROI on about $350 of spend, then $350 a day in cash for four hours of pouring nitro and reapplying sunscreen. He extended it to Sydney cafés undercutting each other to death down a laneway until TikTok workshops taught them to make silly videos instead.

[1:42:59] Music break. Jobu played "New Mexico Moon," written on walks with his deliberately undoxxed dog. Afterwards he explained it [1:48:16]: the highways out there look like black ocean under moonlight, and when he pulled over to sleep, the dog started growling in the middle of nowhere — smuggling country, a distant helicopter running heat signatures — and they left. Corvus matched it with his own story of stopping his bike in the national park at 1am, lighting a cigarette in total silence with no crickets, no animals, no noise, and flicking it away after one drag [1:50:07]. Second track, "Fugger," closed the set.
