COYOTES AND CROWS🪶 — 55 Minutes of Silence, Then a Sermon
Host: UNCLE CORVUS (@unclecorvus) · Date: Tue, 29 Sep 2026 · Duration: 1:40:23 · Speakers: 1 (the two diarization labels are the same voice)
TL;DR
- The first ~55 minutes of this Space were deliberate silence with a loop of background music — no talking, no intro, nothing. Uncle Corvus only opened his mic at [55:38] to reveal it had been intentional: "a master class in stillness."
- He framed it as a test of who would actually stay, and named the two people who did — Ryan and Elgato Satoshi — with genuine gratitude.
- He then read, live and unedited, a new piece from the Blackfeather Doctrine titled "Obedience Over Obsession" — slated to become a module in a forthcoming 44-week program.
- Core thesis: obsession is loud, emotional, self-centered and burns out; obedience is daily, hidden, unglamorous, and endures. Built around 1 Samuel 15:22, John 14:15, Luke 9:23 and Matthew 7:24.
- Tie-ins to the Blackfeather app: the daily seven-item checklist, "the forge," and the clan motto "reject comfort, earn your place" — with the caveat that there's nothing to earn at the door; it's open.
- He closed by pointing at the room's Regen two-year anniversary, urging everyone to stop and take stock of milestones rather than doom-scroll, and signed off asking to be judged by fruit, not leaves.
Highlights
[55:38] The reveal. After nearly an hour of nothing but a looping tune, the mic clicks on: "That was a cracker. Family. We've just uh had an incredible fifty-five minutes of a master class in stillness." No hustle, no consuming, no ticking boxes — and it's recorded, so you can go back and sit in the silence again any time you need an hour to yourself.
[56:52] "I appreciate you, Ryan." The affectionate roll call of the survivors. Uncle Corvus imagines exactly what they were thinking — what the fuck is this guy up to — and honors them for staying anyway: "I've been here for 55 minutes. I will endure anything."
[58:20] How the bit became the message. He walks through his own arc over the hour: the first ten minutes were "oofed," then he waited, then he giggled, then he wondered how far he could push it — and then the penny dropped and it turned into something real. From there, the steward-of-Blackfeather promise: I'll be here when you turn up, I'll be here when you need me.
[59:44] Excuses vs. explanations. On running the whole operation off a Samsung: "That's not an excuse. I'm not giving you an excuse, I'm giving an explanation." Plus the line he later returns to as the spine of the whole talk — tolerance is not the virtue, endurance is.
[1:01:01] Dropping "Obedience Over Obsession" raw. He decides on the spot to release the piece unpolished and unfinished, as a preview of a 44-week module — and immediately widens the framing: the working title says "for the disciplined man," but "this is for everyone," anyone with ears to hear.
[1:04:11] The thesis itself. The modern world doesn't train men to be obedient, it trains them to be obsessed — "obsessed with speed, obsessed with image, obsessed with applause... noise without depth, ambition without surrender, movement without formation." And the honest admission underneath it: FOMO showed up tonight and whispered nobody's coming to your space — and the defiant answer was to bet that the real ones would sit in silence with him for an hour.
[1:14:44] "To obey is better than sacrifice." The sharpest stretch of the reading. Sacrifice can still be public, dramatic, ego-feeding — you can make grand gestures while quietly refusing simple obedience, "preach strength and refuse correction." Obedience, by contrast, is the soldier who never breaks formation regardless of what's incoming.
[1:19:55] Forgiveness as a repeat action. A short, warm detour from the doctrine: forgive, and keep forgiving — every time the situation or the person comes back to mind. "If it still irks you, forgive them until you don't have to forgive them anymore." No counting.
[1:27:28] The church with the coffee machine. Mid-read, after a headset swap and a mic-button fumble, he notes the practice is useful "for when I open up my church" — then, immediately: "Don't laugh, don't laugh. It's gonna be good. It's gonna be good. Coffee machine and everything."
[1:31:33] Bathurst as parable. The Firefly video he'd just posted is shot at Mount Panorama, a track built for supercars — and in it a Formula One Ferrari eventually demolishes the local specialist. The lesson: maintain your car, keep bringing it into the pits, and it doesn't matter what track they hand you. "Let them give you any track, any day, any time... you'll win every single time."
[1:36:16] The close. Genuinely floored that anyone was still in the room: "I don't care that there's not 300 people in this room. Just one person in this room lending me an ear. That's all I can ask for." Then the sign-off instruction — don't judge the tree by how pretty the leaves are, judge it by the fruit.

Who said what
- Uncle Corvus (@unclecorvus) — host and sole voice. Ran the hour of silence as a deliberate experiment, then delivered the first public reading of "Obedience Over Obsession," a Blackfeather Doctrine piece he wrote over weeks of notes and finished under the pressure of an empty-feeling room. Positioned himself throughout as "the steward of Blackfeather" — doors open, nothing to earn, judge by fruit.
- Ryan and Elgato Satoshi — not on the mic, but named and thanked repeatedly as the listeners who sat through the full 55 minutes without bailing. Effectively the co-stars of the experiment.
Worth a full listen
- [55:38]–[59:44] — The reveal and the thank-yous. The pivot from "was this a technical failure?" to "this was the point" only lands if you hear the delivery, including the affectionate impression of Ryan wondering what on earth was going on.
- [1:14:44]–[1:22:30] — The strongest continuous stretch of the reading: sacrifice vs. obedience, the soldier who never breaks formation, the daily checklist and the forge, and the forgiveness aside. Dense and quotable.
- [1:31:33]–[1:38:36] — Bathurst, the Formula One car, and the close. The racing metaphor is the most vivid thing in the hour, and the sign-off — still visibly stunned anyone stayed — is the emotional payoff of the whole experiment.
