Re:Envisioning Web3 #343 — "I get to be here" (allegedly)
Host: Lyss (@Lysss302) with co-hosts Jed (@jed_131) and Bored Osaka (@BoredOsaka1) · Tue, Sep 29 2026 · 2:10:29 · ~20 speakers
TL;DR
- Unplanned day-after space: Monday was the regens' two-year anniversary, so Tuesday #343 was deliberately loose — "where are you at, let's meet you there" [4:11].
- Jed opened by announcing he did not want to be here, then stayed for two hours and ten minutes and closed the room with Rocky.
- Main thread: do collector profiles / collector hubs actually pay off? Luna, Chicken Wizard, Jed and Yot worked through ROI, unification vs. artistry, and loyalty-weighted rewards.
- Bigger thread: how much should founders show up in Spaces? Jed floated ~10 hours a week; Sho, Yot, Cab (@Cabanimation), Slick Ric, CyberThrone, Burningbush and Celeste all added angles — landing on "balance, plus be findable."
- Cab spoke candidly about founder bandwidth, travel, and burnout; Slick Ric delivered the billboard analogy that the room kept quoting back for the next hour.
- Burningbush ran "the hot seat" on first-timer YOUNGFAB_BASE, which went badly, got a full reset, and ended with a genuinely warm intro from Abuja.
Highlights
[4:11] — Lyss frames a no-agenda Tuesday. After a big Monday (anniversary space, then celebrations rolling into the night, including Burningbush's space), she calls for a reset day: max engage, bring a new friend, grab a mic, and if you're at work just drop a comment. "A lot of times those have become some of our best spaces when we don't overplan it."
[6:29] — Jed goes outside. Somewhere between the airplane song and a reggaeton track, Jed hands off co-host duties with the immortal disclaimer: "Don't think this is fucking easy to do this every day. You have no fucking clue." He returns at [14:57] and is fired up for the next two hours.
[12:11] — Bored Osaka's three questions. The calm center of the space: who are you, where are you, why are you — and what are you building, for yourself or your children's children? He credits the room's "I get to be here" reframe, which Lyss notes at [14:15] started with him and has since spread across the regen spaces.
[17:07] — The aeroplane schism. Uncle Mac joins from the car purely to litigate the music charts: he's certain it was always "aeroplanes," A-E-R-O, aeronautics, Boeing, the whole dossier, and suspects a Mandela effect. Yot arrives at [21:04] as a co-signer from the UK and instructs him to hold the line. Sho declines to join the movement at [30:13].
[22:27] – [28:08] — Luna's launch prep, and why collector profiles are rare. Luna walks through an app submission, trait planning, a whitelist form, and a collector's profile he thinks should be table stakes at launch ("what if you want to get a cool screenshot" and your only option is OpenSea). Jed's counter at [25:02]: the UI is usually great, but most projects don't see the ROI because most holders don't appreciate it — "people who want to Jeet are just gonna Jeet," as Luna concedes at [28:08]. Bored Osaka blesses the whole approach with the observation that you can get a Michelin star making tater tots [28:42].
[35:45] – [46:16] — Disjointed hubs vs. long-term hubs. Chicken Wizard argues for one unified collector experience rather than a hub per project, comparing it to his childhood binder full of Pokémon, Digimon, Yu-Gi-Oh and Magic; he and Jed converge on "the ROI is there for serious collectors, less so for casuals" [39:15]. Yot then details how FUGs layers collector badges, loyalty tracking and a participation tier so smaller holders aren't shut out — plus a live bounty: think of a better name than "Collector Hub" and he'll send you a FUGS NFT [46:16]. Jed also shouts out the Claynosaurz hub as best-in-class.
[53:16] — The actual topic: founder hours in Spaces. Jed proposes ~10 hours a week for anyone who claims Web3 full-time, arguing Spaces are the best onboarding tool available. Sho pushes the other view at [55:08] — presence matters, but she personally discovers projects through posts, and founders have teams for a reason. Yot calls it a double-edged sword and lands on balance plus repetition, "because this space forgets too quickly" [59:54].
[1:04:12] — Cab on trust, bandwidth and the unhealthy part. Cab describes the squeeze: skip Spaces and people assume you're doing nothing; overdo them and your own team asks what you're doing. His read is that Spaces solve for trust in an industry full of distrust, and that founder-led marketing only scales when holders trust you enough to onboard for you. He also names the cost — conferences, one-on-one calls while traveling, and public scrutiny that web2 founders never face — and at [1:09:20] gently flags that what he and Jed do isn't necessarily healthy. Jed's reply at [1:10:18] compares it to keeping restaurant staff paid through COVID.
[1:12:36] — Slick Ric's billboard. The set piece of the space: imagine Jed has a Web3 billboard on the highway for the steakhouse and nobody walks in for five months. Would you take it down? Spaces are that billboard. He ties it to his own buying history (he bought Claynosaurz because he met Cab, traded regens because he heard Yot's voice), then pivots to burnout and the necessity of a real team with a chain of command — he burned himself out doing daily spaces for ten months in 2023 with four kids under eight. CyberThrone [1:22:39] and Lyss [1:26:44] both add the nuance that big-IP founders and small-project founders are playing different games.
[1:43:33] — Shiba King's ten-year check-in. Back after a long absence, he opens by diagnosing Jed's voice as "went out partying till 3 a.m., made steaks at 5, never slept," then gets serious: the space recovered ~80% of assets from last week's hack because years of security education existed, which wouldn't have been true three years ago. His advice to founders at [1:46:53]: don't live here, get hobbies, get someone else to take the 3 a.m. calls. Bored Osaka clarifies those are called interns now.
[1:50:56] – [1:52:33] — Maaaaahhhaaaaa on the dinner circuit. Seattle done (with Bored Osaka, Val bringing a non-Web3 friend again), Utah this weekend, Basel and Designer Con coming. His point: attendees are already planning their own meetups without him, which is the entire goal. Jed summarizes this as spending nibbles funds on eating well across America; Maaaaahhhaaaaa accepts the charge and thanks the sponsors.
[1:53:10] — The hot seat, take one and take two. Burningbush puts YOUNGFAB_BASE on 30 seconds of "tell us about the human behind the account," with imaginary Sandstorm. It becomes 30 seconds of glazing, rhyming and following Jed for 150 years; Burningbush rules it a failure ("no donuts") and Sho concurs. Lyss grants a reset at [1:55:38], Bored Osaka keeps redirecting from "what you do" to "who you are" [1:56:32], and it turns into the best stretch of the space: Immanuel, 23, from Abuja, solar engineer and CCTV installer, back at college with bad connectivity, drained wallet, still showing up [1:57:16]. Jed's closing note at [1:59:34]: more of that, less of the first one.
[2:07:09] — Jed's closing, then Rocky. He wants more calls with new holders, admits he loves the space despite himself, promises Destefanos' theme another day, and instructs Lyss not to end the room before 1:20. Eye of the Tiger plays out the two hours.

Who said what
- Lyss (@Lysss302) — host; set the no-agenda tone, ran the rescreen shoutouts, and made the case that founders don't owe daily spaces but do owe being findable and knowable [1:01:26], plus a closing plea not to silo inside regen rooms [2:03:59].
- Jed (@jed_131) — co-host; arrived allergic to being there, drove the two main topics (collector-profile ROI, founder hours), and argued voice plus posts beats posts alone [59:19].
- Bored Osaka (@BoredOsaka1) — co-host and the room's steadying voice; "who are you, where are you, why are you" [12:11], the case for projects pivoting as they mature [1:28:49], and the hot-seat redirect that finally got a real answer.
- Yot (@yotdog69) — FUGs founder; on repetition, algorithm reach and balance [59:54], and a detailed walkthrough of loyalty and participation tiers plus an open bounty to rename the Collector Hub [43:27]–[46:16].
- Cab (@Cabanimation) — Claynosaurz; the founder-bandwidth reality check — travel, meetings, one-on-one calls, public scrutiny — and the argument that Spaces exist to solve for trust [1:04:12].
- Slick Ric (@richj530) — the billboard analogy, plus a personal history of only buying after hearing a founder's voice and a hard lesson on burnout and building a team [1:12:36].
- Luna (@LunaPrime) — building an NFT collection, an app, and a collector profile he considers pre-flight checklist material [22:43]; also the room's frozen-dumpling-and-tater-tot correspondent.
- Chicken Wizard (@ChickenWizardX) — argued for a single unified collector hub over per-project hubs, from the perspective of sharing with non-Web3 friends [35:45].
- Sho (@AgogoKaren) — the "founders don't have to be in every day" counterweight [55:08]; her 2:30 space on expectations; the Lego tangent she immediately regretted [31:33].
- Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) — reporting from the golf course; on projects being findable in DMs even without daily spaces [1:33:20], writes his unrecorded nightly lore live, and MCs the hot seat.
- Shiba King (@Shiba_King1991) — ten years in crypto, back after a break; hack recovery as proof of accumulated security education, and "do not live here" advice for founders [1:46:53].
- Celeste (@CelesteWAO) — on wearing every hat (reply guy, founder, community member) and the unglamorous, trench-level reality of founding [1:39:48].
- CyberThrone (@0xCyberThrone) — the it-depends framing: big IPs onboard via Amazon deals, smaller projects onboard via showing up [1:23:34].
- Maaaaahhhaaaaa (@Maaaaahhhaaaaa) — IRL dinners across the country; Seattle recap, Utah next, and the view that Spaces plus face-to-face is the powerful combination [1:51:33].
- Uncle Mac (@Unclemac) — came up solely to dispute "airplanes," achieved dimension-adjacent results [17:07].
- zGhostin (@zGhostin) — reported a good Tuesday: eight-hour day, haircut on the clock [32:58].
- YOUNGFAB_BASE (@Youngfab_BASE) — hot-seat casualty turned genuine intro: Immanuel, 23, Abuja, solar engineer and CCTV installer, rebuilding after a drained wallet, hosting Wednesday spaces [1:57:16].
Worth a full listen
- [1:04:12] – [1:22:19] — Cab on trust and burnout straight into Slick Ric's billboard monologue and team-building advice. Two very different registers making the same argument, and the strongest 18 minutes in the room.
- [35:45] – [49:00] — The collector-hub stretch: Chicken Wizard's unification case, Jed's ROI counter, and Yot's product detail on loyalty-weighted rewards. Useful if you're building anything holder-facing.
- [1:53:10] – [2:00:48] — The hot seat, the wipeout, and the reset. Summary can't carry the timing of Burningbush's imaginary Sandstorm, and it genuinely turns into the warmest moment of the space.
