Happy 2 Years, ReGens — Re:Envisioning Web3's Anniversary Space
Hosted by Lyss (@Lysss302) with Jed (@jed_131) · Mon, Sept 28, 2026 · 2h 33m · ~20 speakers on mic
TL;DR
- The ReGens hit their two-year anniversary — a $1–2 mint on Base that's since grown into a daily spaces habit, an IRL steakhouse hub (De Stefano's), and a team that keeps showing up. The party continued that night at the restaurant.
- Jed told the full origin story for the first time in a while [21:07]: finding Mech doing artist, dev, Discord and group chat simultaneously, taking the community side, dragging Ethereum people onto Base one bridge at a time, and running activations designed to test whether the community would help each other or fleece each other.
- Cortez (@CaliApe_22) bought two ReGens live and gifted them to community members who show up without holding one [34:37]; DigitalBag TM got the first [1:41:54].
- Gigi Cortez made her spaces debut [35:44] — 15 seasons of women's professional tackle football, and a Toys for Tots bowl game in Vegas on December 5 the room immediately volunteered to support.
- Dan (@brokenrealitydh) brought receipts from his recap tool [1:43:41]: 327 hours of ReGen space audio, 299 different people who've spoken on a ReGen stage, 250,000+ live reactions.
- Housekeeping worth knowing: Rebuilding Together daily at 5pm EST, Burning Bush / ReGen Noir at 9:30pm EST, "Who Is Behind the PFP" on Saturdays, and Re:Envisioning itself turns one on October 20.
Highlights
Piff's custom tracks open the room, then turn on the co-host [7:10] The space opened with a run of original songs — "We Built This Fire," a ReGens anthem, and then, at [10:22], a full diss track about Lyss falling asleep on a space. "Liz fell asleep, yes, confirm… scheduled co-host turned ASMR." The room enjoyed it enormously.
Lyss pleads guilty, with context [12:28] "That was Christmas Day. I just want you guys to know." She'd just started dating Jed, agreed to co-host, put her Bills gear on, went upstairs to the couch, and that was that. Her defense — that she and Jed have collectively slept less this week than any single listener — was not really a defense, and she moved straight into the anniversary.
Baked's two-week head start [19:21] Baked has a tattoo of his PFP and has said he'll never sell it (Jed's counteroffer: if it ever hits life-changing money, he'll personally come remove both the NFT and the tattoo). The better stat: Baked had been in Web3 for exactly two weeks before ReGens minted, had never bought an NFT on Base, and has spent his entire Web3 life pushing this one project.
Jed's origin story and the trait-set experiment [21:07] Watching Mech slowly sink into quicksand as artist, dev, and community manager at once, Jed offered to take the community side, and the two shook on scaling an art project into a company. The activation he's proudest of: ten weekly art pieces, collect all ten to mint the reward — designed less as a drop than as a test of whether people would trade fairly or gouge each other. Around 57 full sets got completed. The Christmas mint raised roughly 6 ETH, which went to sweeping other communities' floors and giving the rest back [25:22].
Cortez gives away regens, and Gigi steals the space [32:36] Cortez spoke about Jed calling to check on him during a hard IRL week, then bought two ReGens to gift to people who embody the community. His wife Gigi was then handed the phone live [35:44] and explained women's tackle football — 15 seasons, Team United international play, the WFA, and a firm "it's not lingerie league." She also revealed she'd pictured Jed as a 6'4" mafioso [40:18], which he took about as well as could be expected.
Celeste sings [59:04] After a genuinely moving stretch about founders owning their mistakes and treating members as family, Celeste performed a piece blending Radiohead's "Creep" with lyrics in her native language — a girl with smoky eyes crying in the rain, where home can be a house, a person, or a community. Hers, she said, is the ReGens.
A ride from the airport, negotiated live [1:07:50] ValerieKates offered Lyss and crew a lift from the Vegas airport during Bills weekend, prompting the most Web3 sentence of the day [1:09:34]: "I just got my ride from the airport on a space."
Burningbush breaks character for a second [1:14:30] After a full bit about Lyss missing ReGen Noir and possibly being killed off in the story, he got serious: two weeks in the community and already convinced. He mentioned having a rough day once, barely alluding to it on a space, and getting FaceTimed by Jed and Lyss the minute it ended.
Dan's data [1:43:41] The recap dev, described by Lyss as having unexpected feelings, laid out what two years actually looks like in numbers — 327 hours captured, 299 unique voices, a quarter of a million reactions — and noted the Saturday "Who Is Behind the PFP" episodes are consistently the biggest.
INSTRUMENTAL walks out of HR a free man [2:10:30] He'd dipped in early [27:43] on his way into the meeting ("You and HR together does not sound good," Jed observed). He came back two hours later with a return-to-work date, a bottle of Grey Goose, and an offer to watch the Rocky one-through-five marathon plus Creed with anyone willing.
Rocky nearly ends the founder [2:08:24] Lyss played the Rocky speech as a Monday motivation piece, forgetting Jed was driving. He resurfaced to report he'd nearly gone through a brick wall on the Belt Parkway, which she had specifically told him not to take.
ReGen Noir: "Two Years In" [2:23:00] Burningbush previewed that night's chapter — Yot's "leadership vacuum" (he lives across the street), McFly's PFP swap getting him a red card from Jed and a "you look unemployed" from CEELOS, and Jed attending spaces while unconscious entered into the public record.

Who said what
- Lyss (@Lysss302) — host; ran the room, the resets and the motivational close, and volunteered herself as the day's cautionary tale about napping on spaces. Opened up about lupus and her dog Cooper [1:33:22].
- Jed (@jed_131) — co-founder; told the origin story, the activations, and the honest founder ledger (nobody outside the top five projects is making real money). Signed off with "I'm not stopping until we're in the top ten" [2:29:54].
- SLICK RIC (@richj530) — set the tone early on sustainability, resilience and consistency, and on teams not always agreeing.
- CEELOS (@CEELOSFIGG) — day-one holder, scrolled his photo album live; recalled Gang Wars and the Re:Witch open edition. Also briefly broadcast a warehouse coffee order to 5,000 people [47:28].
- Baked (@Bakedmetax) — tattooed holder, two weeks in Web3 before mint, never bought a Base NFT before this one.
- INSTRUMENTAL (@instrumental250) — dropped in twice around an HR meeting; the second visit came with good news and a bottle.
- Cortez (@CaliApe_22) — bought and gifted two ReGens live; spoke about what community support has meant during a hard stretch.
- Gigi Cortez — first time on a mic; women's pro tackle football veteran, headed to a Toys for Tots bowl game in Vegas on December 5.
- Celeste (@CelesteWAO) — on founders owning mistakes and treating members as family, then performed a bilingual "Creep."
- ValerieKates (@valeriekates_) — daily-space regular; offered airport rides and noted she's never seen a community this willing to share its value.
- Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) — resident storyteller; ran the banter and delivered the ReGen Noir anniversary teaser, fighting a Twitter update the whole way.
- Yot (@yotdog69) — Fugs founder; credited the fireside chat for the crossover between the two communities.
- Maaaaahhhaaaaa (@Maaaaahhhaaaaa) — long-time friend of the project; reported back from an IRL weekend with Bored Osaka and a life-changing mac and cheese in Seattle.

- McFly (@MrMcFly100) — "IRL is the alpha"; changed his PFP and was immediately issued a red card.
- Margie B (@MargieAponte2) — brought receipts, defended Lyss, and made the case that big heads retain more good information.
- Host (@HostXweb3) and Chicken Wizard (@ChickenWizardX) — short, warm anniversary drop-ins.
Worth a full listen
- [7:10] – [13:58] — the Piff track run into Lyss's Christmas confession. The songs are genuinely well made and the sleeping-co-host bit lands harder in audio than in print.
- [21:07] – [26:44] — Jed's uninterrupted origin story: Mech drowning in three jobs at once, the bridge-people-to-Base grind, the trait-set experiment as a community integrity test, and the contract migration he wishes he'd done a year earlier. The most substantive stretch of the space.
- [59:04] – [1:05:12] — Celeste's speech and performance. No summary survives contact with it.
