Re:Envisioning Web3 | Who is Behind the PFP?

TL;DR
- A Saturday "who's behind the PFP" session in a shifted time slot, opened with a DJ set that rugged itself twice before Biggie's "Juicy" got the room going [11:40].
- Jroc3D gave the long-form version of himself for the first time: ten years in the Army as a driver, West Philly, five or six years DJing the city, an accident that ended it, and a two-year-old daughter [35:22].
- Jed laid out his onboarding philosophy — stop shilling in DMs, ask questions, connect two people and leave the room [25:59] — then immediately flagged his own "hard shill" for Stonk Broker interns [51:44].
- xKevie explained how the Stonk Broker intern system works (non-dilutive, tied to the parent broker's activation tier) and announced he'd just joined the Regens [55:46].
- Burningbush (Lee) made a recorded-on-the-record verbal commitment to the Buffalo Bills, "at least until they lose," which Jroc3D received about as well as a Philly fan can [1:01:36].
- The back half turned into a security segment: Discord scams, cloned streaming sites, and why Crono thinks gatekeeping your server is table stakes now [1:10:25]–[1:23:31].
Highlights
[3:12] The soft open, and a DJ who rugged mid-song. Lyss opened to a half-empty stage after the music cut out mid-track, explaining the time change was an IRL thing and the space was happening anyway. Jed came back with the honest confession that he couldn't restart the song from the middle — "I'm like fucking OCD" — and had to start over from the top [4:43].
[11:30] "A little off brand for your list." Jed warned about a couple of F-bombs, then dropped "Juicy" in full, which turned out to be exactly on brand: Lyss's only note afterward was that Biggie is very much her lane [15:54].
[15:54] Friday recap: Cortez, a steakhouse table, and Mr. Brightside. Lyss walked through the day before — Jed's fireside with Celeste, then Cortez and his wife coming through De Stefano's, where the standout detail was that she plays real tackle football. The nightcap was a hip-hop lounge unexpectedly playing the Bills' victory song. Jed's amendment to the scene-setting at [18:30]: it was three college girls jumping around and everyone else wondering what was happening, himself included.
[25:59] How not to onboard. Jed's central point of the space: most people in Web3 don't onboard, they present, and a cold DM that opens with "check out our project" has already lost the person. His alternative is asking where someone thinks the space is going, taking months if it takes months, and connecting people with no expectation — his example being introducing Burningbush, a serious TCG player, to a friend building around TCGs: "Put two people together, step out of the room, and let them work" [28:02].
[35:22] Who is Jroc3D. The answer to the space's actual question. Ten years in the Army as an 88 Mike hauling supplies, born and raised West Philly, then DJing Temple parties and city residencies — coming up alongside a guy who'd later be known as Subtronics — before an accident changed his direction. Now airline security at the international airport, married, a two-year-old daughter asleep to lullabies audible in the background. At [40:26] he got into what DJing actually is: not BPM or genre, but control of the room's energy, and how every big DJ he asked told him the same thing — they came with a playlist and threw it out the second they felt the vibe. Jed spent the next few minutes trying to talk him into blowing the dust off the turntables and mixing into his spaces again [43:00].
[49:03] The prank that didn't land, and the accomplice who confessed. Jed had spent the night before setting up Superhighgasfees for a ribbing about shilling in a space — the whole room was in on it — only for Super to wake up completely unbothered. Reason: Sho had texted him at midnight to warn him off the edge, because she knew he'd spiral with guilt for eight hours until he reached someone [50:52]. Jed's verdict on her failed villain arc: "you're going back to grandma ways" [51:21]. Also floated: releasing footage of teenage Super skating in a purple pill roll [52:01].
[51:44] Jed red-flags himself. Having just spent twenty minutes on why hard shilling is the worst thing you can do, Jed pitched Stonk Broker interns, called it "a fucking hard ass shill," and issued himself the red flag in advance. xKevie then did the actual explainer at [55:46]: each broker issues two interns, non-dilutive, earnings tied to the parent broker's activation tier — so a T4 partner's intern can be worth roughly three and a half times a T0's, and the intern dies if the parent broker is sold or moved.
[58:34] The steakhouse as an IRL mecca. xKevie, newly joined to the Regens after watching from a distance, said he'd seen De Stefano's on the timeline for ages and wondered why NFT people kept flocking there — then found out Jed owns and runs it. Jed's response was to start thinking aloud about his niche: RWAs tied to the steakhouse, maybe a quarterly dinner for brokers funded by royalties [59:01].
[1:01:36] A man converts, on tape. Burningbush, coming in hot from ten holes left on the golf course, used the recorded space to make a formal verbal commitment to the Buffalo Bills, "at least until they lose," since they're undefeated since he started watching. Jroc3D, a day-one Eagles guy, took it about how you'd expect [1:02:01], noted the conversion isn't official until you go through a table, and learned that Burningbush had already been put through three of them last game day and seen both the light and the stars [1:02:29]. Donny added the full defection résumé: Eagles, then Niners, then Bills [1:02:40].
[1:13:03] Dan's near-miss with a cloned podcast site. Asked to jump on a stream during his game promotion run, Dan vetted the profile, then the link — and on a separate device found an exact clone of a reputable streaming site with malicious entry points on every link. When he flagged it, the guy cheerfully offered a second link that would have had him paste an installer into his terminal. His advice: if you didn't ask for it, question it, and ask a friend before you click. Crono followed at [1:15:41] with the infrastructure argument — Discords are holding high-dollar assets now, and verification gates, account age checks and token gating are the cheapest security a project can buy. Lyss backed the Regens' own locked-down approach at [1:22:03]: connect on X and in spaces, keep the Discord as home base.
[1:25:04] The wind-down. Lyss closed on the day's lineup and a small ask: go touch grass, learn something new, text someone you're thinking of them, and add some kindness to the end of the week regardless of how the week went.

Who said what
- Lyss (@Lysss302) — host; ran the room, recapped Friday's IRL meetups, handled regen jersey edits, trait talk and Anvil protocol, and closed on community safety and a warm outro.
- Jed (@jed_131) — co-host and DJ; the space's thesis-giver on onboarding and connection, steakhouse owner, chief instigator of the Super High prank, and the only person to red-flag his own shill in real time.
- Jroc3D (@JusCrypto88) — the day's main "behind the PFP": veteran, former Philly DJ, airline security, family man; also the room's designated Eagles loyalist.
- xKevie (@One_Eyed_Kevie) — newest Regen; delivered the clearest explanation of Stonk Broker interns and activation tiers before heading off to watch football.
- Crono (@Crono1000) — builder of Node; made the case for gated Discords and described building intern support for Simple Farmer's collections on request.
- Dan (@brokenrealitydh) — developer; hit his agent usage limit for the first time, talked Q4 goal-setting, and walked through his cloned-streaming-site near-miss.
- Donny Ðoge (@DogeDonny2013) — co-host who froze at the mic twice, then talked about easing back into hosting after a project dissolved under him, and reviving his old "traits and treats" space.
- Superhighgasfees (@SHGFees) — showed up unscammed by the prank; conceded there may be a part of him that could actually do the shill thing again.
- Sho (@AgogoKaren) — was just going to listen quietly; got outed as the one who tipped Super off at midnight.
- Burningbush (@BurningBush_eth) — dialed in from the golf course, teased the next Regen Noir episode, converted to the Bills on the record.
- Niko (@6XISIV) — back on a routine and running again; flagged McFly's birthday to the room.
Worth a full listen
- [35:22]–[46:10] — Jroc3D's full story, especially the DJ section. The bit about reading a room you walked into cold an hour into the night is the best thing in the space and doesn't compress.
- [49:03]–[52:01] — The prank post-mortem: Jed's setup, Super's unbothered reply, and Sho confessing to sabotaging the whole thing out of kindness.
- [1:13:03]–[1:23:31] — Dan's cloned-site walkthrough into Crono's gatekeeping argument. Practical, specific, and the most actionable stretch of the afternoon.
